Hi

At what point to you stop going for the main dealer servicing? I have a 2000 Chimaera thats always had its annual service down at Mole Valley. The last few have been about a grand or so...

I understand that Mole Valley have lost their dealer stamp for TVR, so I don't want to pay that sort of money to them, if they aren't TVR approved. TVR Gatwick is a nightmare to get to from Central London. What choices do I have to keep the Full TVR history, or do I go to an independant and lose the FTVRSH?

Any recommendations? I take it Im not the only one in this position. I'm in Battersea.

Thanks for the help....

A Friend had the same dilemma with Fernhurst, but carried on with them, as he felt their stamp on his Chimaera was 'as good as', and they were convenient. Recently he was thinking of p/xing and the Dealer was very happy that it had Fernhurst stamps, even though like MV they were no longer official Dealers. (The technicians at Fernhurst I guess like MV are still the same ex TVR technicians).

IMHO Dealer stamps aint worth a toss. There are plenty of well known/respected independant specialists out there, who give a top service.

Their stamp in your service book will not devalue the car either.

My tuppence worth.

Hmmmm Central London......don't any round there Dealers or Indies

I don't disagree with your point about certain indies having just as much servicing cred as a main dealer. But I think having FTVRSH through main dealers does help you sell when the time comes, particularly if you're selling to first time TVR buyers - which I presume in certain models/price ranges is the norm. Among that buying group, the quality of certain indies is neither perceived nor valued. For those prospective buyers - and I was one - FTVRSH was a checkbox. So for that reason I've maintained my TVR over the past 3 years with FTVRSH. Sure servicing has cost me more but I never went into TVR ownership with the expectation of cheap motoring.

I've spoken to Mole Valley this morning and are claiming to still be an approved TVR service. So I've booked in. Thanks for your comments above though

Cheers!
