I am currently looking to change jobs. I have seen someone locally advertising a lot of jobs (large company) including two different sorts of role. One kind of role is field based, the other is consultancy.

I am capable of doing either job, but would be a good idea to apply for only one job or for roles in both lines? I don't want to look like I'm just applying for everything in sight, but I work for a small company where everyone can do everything whereas this is a large company where people are quite specialised.

Apply for both.

If shortlisted for both, speak to the hiring managers/s and make your mind up after that which interview to attend; the one that you think most fits your skills and ambitions and which manager you get on best with.

If you’re only shortlisted for one; dilemma solved.

Good luck!

I have had this twice now - the same candidate applying for two different and quite distinct roles. It really put me off them.

It made me think that they cared little about the role, and just wanted any job they could get.

Of course, perhaps this is just me, and it’s quite possible that the hiring manager might be different across roles in your case.

All good points thank you. I might email the company and state my position. I do agree that it might seem a bit like I was applying for everything in sight whereas I think most employers are looking for someone focussed.
