Not sure if you know of Ryan Serhant a New York real estate sales man that stars in the Bravo series Million Dollar Listing?
its your usual US cheese but i quite like the show and he is quite entertaining, anyway on his YouTube Channel he recently revealed his new Mercedes Jeep thing, and slated his previous DB9 for being nosiy and full of rattles ( i think most of us have been there)
My question is, do you think things like the "rattles" have caused Aston to be overlooked in favour of other brands - if people like Serhant slate the car then the Millions of followers he has will take it for granted that Astons are not a quality car ?

Never heard of him, but if one lets a YouTube American Estate agent influence what car you buy then the world is indeed a sadder place than I imagined it to be

WTF does he know about cars ?

Another "influencer" who should get a proper job.

Really? If Thomas The Tank Engine revealed his Aston Martin had rattles I'd give that more credibility as a source of information.

If Bluey said his Vantage rattled, well, I'd sell mine...

These crappy reality shows are all fake and scripted. I wouldn't put much stock in what one of these idiots does.

Saw an 'influencer' on an episode of Shark Tank. "I could sell a million of these if I posted it". I'm out, I'm out, I'm out, I'm out, I'm out. And he had a look on his face that he just couldn't believe it. Hilarious.

I watched as much as I could stand and he says at 0:36 that he knows nothing about cars, which he then goes on to prove. He makes no mention of rattles on his DB9 Volante but he does say that he thought it was annoying to get into as he’s 6’ 3” (slightly shorter than me) it broke down (?) the hood (soft top) broke and that it squeaked coming down the road, which I interpreted as brake squeal as he said it sounded like an 18-wheeler so you could hear it coming. He also finishes by saying he hates driving and only drives about twice a month. Oh, and he moved to the DB9 from a Vespa scooter, so he was well prepared to drive an Aston. Around New York. rolleyes

I’m hoping my IQ recovers with a good night’s sleep

Maybe don’t comment then if you don’t know anything about him. He’s one of New York’s most successful realtors (15th) and has been on Million Dollar Listing since 2010. Far from an ‘influencer’.

Never heard of him. But estate agents are always a good source of accurate information.

I was surprised when I saw his name pop up - zero reason to know him in the UK.

laugh

Should we now assume, that Jay Leno and Jeremy Clarkson's opinions about Aston Martins, are wrong ?

At what point did anyone in their right mind trust an estate agent? If anyone listening to whoever he is allows that to influence their decision I would argue they are not the target market.

Why? he's commenting on things he knows nothing about - just returning the favour

I'm still amazed that, 20 years after I first predicted their demise, Estate Agents continue to exist. We now all have digital cameras, computers and the internet (and we always all had tape measures). Why are people still paying a significant percentage of the sale price of properties to an agent for something that will sell itself with the help of the internet?

I 110% agree.

I have just sold a house and all the estate agents who came around wanted their % - and when I did the sums it was going to be something in the region of 10-14k commission - they all said they could sell it in 7 days - which made the amount even more annoying - as in they weren't doing a lot for that sum.

I tried Purple Bricks - 8 viewings, 3 offers, and no commission to pay - just a flat listing fee of less than 1k - and it sold in 8 days - with someone waiting in the wings if it falls through.

Estate Agents are definitely a time limited function in my opinion in the UK - the number of viewers who said it was refreshing to be shown around by the owner who knew about the property and not be spun a story by an agent !!

I didn't realise anybody put any credence at all on anything an estate agent says; or realtors for that matter, I can't imagine that they're a different breed. Are they?

Anybody who benefits, in any way, from voicing their opinion, automatically devalues that opinion. IMHO.

I dont give a flying F who he is.

I have never heard of him and so his opinion is worthless to me.

My gardener says he prefers Ferrari to Astons. You gonna take note of that ?

To translate for the the UK. Suppose Kevin McCloud of Grand Designs said on one of his episodes that Aston Martins are rubbish. People on PH will quite rightly say that his opinion is worthless. However, a small portion of some of the non-PH TV viewers who can afford an Aston may log the comment in their subconscious. In the case of Ryan Serhant, there are many millions of viewers in a country (USA) which is a not unimportant market for Aston Martin. Will that have any effect whatsoever on Aston Martin's brand perception (and therefore sales success) in the US? Who knows. Probably doubtful. But I believe that was all the OP was trying to say. I'm unsure why this thread seems to have gone off on a vitriolic tangent....
