New HP laptop (screen quality)
Discussion
Hi All,
I've just got a new HP Pavilion laptop, I have been using an iPad for the last few years and I note that the screen qualify of the new laptop is no way as good as my iPad in terms of clarity and brightness. is it my machine or are apple displays really that much better?
Cheers
Sunil

I have a high-end ThinkPad for work but since ive been exclusively WFH I have been working on my 5k iMac.
I had to use my laptop recently for the first time in a year and was shocked at how bad the screen was - I genuinely dont know how easy it will be going back to it and tempted if/when I do need to going an alternative route (but Ive no idea what/how yet)

I’m going to connect the laptop to my TV and see if the picture quality is any better. However I have been informed by a friend that the picture quality is dependent on the graphics card.

erm. no? it's dependant on the actual quality of the display, especiall with laptops. brightness, contrast, colour gamut can vary massivelyCheers

I’ve had several ThinkPads - one was so bad I sent it back, it was dull and like someone had smeared the screen with Vaseline. The latest ones have a high brightness optional screen and that’s fine but in a corporate environment they probably wouldn’t spec that.I had to use my laptop recently for the first time in a year and was shocked at how bad the screen was - I genuinely dont know how easy it will be going back to it and tempted if/when I do need to going an alternative route (but Ive no idea what/how yet)

The graphics card will be irrelevant in this case - Apple Retina displays essentially have 2 or 4 times as many pixels crammed into the same space, so will have a better image quality.Cheers
