Morning all. I was hoping for some pointers to assist with a rattle that I can’t quite pin down. The car is a 2013 V8 Roadster and the rattle/knock is somewhere to the right of the steering wheel. It is very intermittent and seems to be temperature related and I can’t quite pin down the source.

I’ve considered the speaker, vent and wing mirror but equally it could be behind the dash or door trim. I should probably ask my dealer to look into it but when I mentioned I thought it might be the wing mirror his proposal without even checking was an £800 replacement. So maybe not.

Anyone else had a rattle in that area and solved it? Thanks

Did you have considered the well known "Steering Wheel Airbag Rattle" ? I had this on my V8V and was in mind it comes from the doorcard, because it was not every time. after installing the 9G43-33698-AA repair set onto the airbag attachment screw the noise/rattle was gone ... just an idea.
Cheers

I occasionally get one from the panel directly under windscreen behind speedo. Just press on it and it stops a while

I had one in that area, found and fixed by the dealer during my first service. It was the mirror. It's not completely gone, it comes back on rough roads though.

Thanks all. I don’t think it is the airbag. Definite coming from right of the steering wheel. Just very hard to pinpoint exactly where from as it only rattled on extremely bumpy roads and temperature may influence it too. It’s a sort of hollow knocking like something metal hitting a hollow plastic object.

I guess I’ll need to ask the dealer again but try and temper his enthusiasm for changing parts before investigating.

I don't know where you are in the UK but you might be better served in going to an independent specialist rather than main dealer.

Where about are you? I'm sure other UK Aston owners will be able to give recommendations if there's a good indy close to you
