Started watching this last night.
My wife tells me it has some production connection with Line of Duty and there's certainly a feel of that to it (although thankfully not someone shouting 'Bent Coppers!' every 5 minutes...).
The tensions of the 'retired' paramilitary elements and still unresolved sectarianism were well played, I thought, with the criminal investigation running through it.
Obviously, there's a hint of police/political corruption/expediency raised already and 3 (maybe 4) dead people, including (it seems) James Nesbitt's wife, but we'll see how that pans out.
My wife, though, got bored and went to watch some Turkish historical drama running to 500 episodes - I suspect, partly, due to struggling with the rather mumbled Northern Irish accents which made some of the dialogue hard to follow.
I'll continue watching it, I doubt she will.

Really enjoyed this. The tension was immediate and there are some very thought provoking issues in terms of the "greater good" referred to by the old senior detective where he hinted at leads not being investigated due to the context of the peace process at the time.
I'm not overly familiar with NI accents but James Nesbitt sounded authentic.
The bit that made us laugh was the sheer amount of well known actors - it seemed like they had rounded up the main Irish cast members from every BBC production in the last few years.
Few laugh out loud bits, I liked the bit where the lad from Young Offenders goes "how much?" in response to the question about whether someone had paid for sex.

James Nesbitt is from Northern Ireland, so you'd expect his accent to be fairly accurate

Watched it last night, can agree with the toilet comment and the "an other tree", seemed a bit predictable. Seems ok so far though.
Most annoying is 1 a week for a month! Damnit I want to binge.
I hate the whole binging thing - I actually LIKE waiting for the next episode! Most annoying is 1 a week for a month! Damnit I want to binge.
I'm not from the 'instant gratification' generation though

I remember when 24 (and Braquo, which always ended on a seemingly impossible to escape cliffhanger!) was originally shown weekly, I'd so want to know what was going to happen next, but waiting a week was a sort of masochistic pleasure.
I hope you're wrong Don V as that was exactly my thought....

The link is that they are both written by Jed Mercurio. My wife tells me it has some production connection with Line of Duty and there's certainly a feel of that to it (although thankfully not someone shouting 'Bent Coppers!' every 5 minutes...).
I really enjoyed it. Was sad, shocking at times and funny bits too.
I live beside Strangford Lough so I know those little islands. I know that farm house too, it overlooks islands but not the one with the bodies, it's further out. I had fun spotting places I knew.
I'm going to watch the rest as I think it's going to be great.

Line of Duty writer Jed Mercurio.is Executive Producer of Bloodlands, which is written by Chris Brandon. I'm not a fan of shaky camerawork so didn't really enjoy it. For me it's nowhere near as good as Line Of Duty and I'm really looking forward to the new series.

We have been watching the Bay for the same reasons.I live beside Strangford Lough so I know those little islands. I know that farm house too, it overlooks islands but not the one with the bodies, it's further out. I had fun spotting places I knew.

Its odd to see someone for example, jumping into a car and driving off to escape when you know they are driving down a dead end, or when they run down a street and turn up in a completely different place.
And also watching the vista shots to see how they hide the two nuclear power stations when their appearance would affect the reference of the shot. They even managed to hide us behind someones head
