Is there a website to pre order graphics cards then when they eventually have stock you can get in a queue and get it delivered?

It's getting a bit silly not being able to buy a graphics card at the moment

Not that I know of.

You can set up a chrome plugin to check nvidia website every 20 seconds and then jump on it the moment they are available. Or you buy on ebay or you buy an entirely new built pre-build machine that comes with the gpu you want.

I just bought another second hand 2080ti from ebay and paid more than a brand new 3080 (which is more powerful).

It is a bit of a nightmare.

What card are you looking for?

Yeah, if you can afford it I would probably go the route of buying a pre-built system and then punting the bits you don't need. If you go for one with decent branded parts then you'll get a fair chunk back.

For example, this build with a 3060 Ti from CCL is about £1135. If you factor in that the going rate for a 3060 Ti is at least £700, you only need to claw back about £450 and you're doing good. If you chuck in your existing card and sell it complete then it's surely still going to be worth much more than that.

I was looking at the 5700xt.

I don't really want to buy a premade machine as I have a pretty good setup.

Seems bizarre to even contemplate that. However as you mention it, it would be worthwhile. However I've never seen a pre built machine with a 5700xt. I'd be open to change the GPU if I could achieve the same result.

Yeah, it's a crazy time. I bought the rest of my parts in Nov, still waiting for a GPU until I finally managed to get a 3070 last week. All the part alerts, Discords and sniping in the world didn't manage to get me one for months. If I'd just bought a pre-build then swapped/upgraded the bits I felt passionate about (case, mainly) then I'd have had a PC months ago, and would have spent less money and certainly a lot less time on it, never mind the missed mining work laugh

In the interim I have been running with a 1650 so it's not been unusable as a PC, and I suppose the benefit of the whole ridiculous supply situation is that I'll probably be able to sell that for €50 more than I paid for it and claw a little back

I did have a 1080 in it, however I had to give that to my apprentice as I promised it him at Christmas expecting to have something by now.

I thought it I waited the 5700 would come down in price with 6800 launch. Well that backfired.

I ordered and built up a pc over Christmas. I was after a 3060 ti but no stock. I started following a guy in Twitter who posted stock updates for gpu. When he reported some 3070s in stock at overclockers I dived in and was very happily surprised to get an order in which was delivered 2 days later. A bit of cost creep over what I wanted to pay but got a better card and can run most things in 'ultra'..

Guy on my team took a half day off today because some manufacturer was releasing some expensive graphics card that will sell out in minutes apparently.

Madness.

Be surprised if he managed to grab a 3060 before they sold out anyway.

Good effort on his part though, if that’s what it takes.

Here’s a Ryzen 5 3600/RTX 3060 deal for a little over a grand and you can get it in a few days. If I was looking now I’d probably plump for something like this.

Interesting who was the person on twitter?
