Hi guys, my son just had his 2009 scirocco serviced,
The car was running 100% before it went in. After 356 miles all 4 plug have completely burnt out.
Car got recovered and sent to a VW garage within 10 mile radius of breaking down.
The VW garage told my son all 4 plugs are burnt out and you have no compression on cylinder 1 2 & 3 then recommended to get car serviced more regularly. My son explained it was only serviced 20 days ago and it was fitted with 4 new plugs and new coils on 2 3 & 4
I had it recovered back to Garage who serviced it to investigate.
They removed head and had specialist look at it, finding no fault.
Now they removed piston and said it requires new piston rings, this was a common fault pre 2012 scirocco.
My opinion is the wrong plugs were fitted and the burnt out electrode tips have damaged the bores
Has any one else had any issues like this ?
Look forward to reply’s

It's also possible the old plugs had deteriorated & were already causing damage.
I'm not saying you're wrong I'm just offering an alternative. Ask to look at the old plugs & you can then check if they're the right ones for the car.

Communication will be the key in this situation also look at getting another engine as it may be cheaper than rebuilding the engine.

Have a look at this:

Are they NGKs? There are a lot of fake ones about (mainly on Ebay). Could a set of these have been fitted and burnt out?
Just google "fake NGK" and info will come up.

Thanks guys, this is what I heard the new NGK plugs fitted on service cause the miss fire, so they replaced them with Bosch equivalent. The original plugs have been thrown out and so has the plugs that done 356 miles, very convenient don’t you think?
I’m trying to get much info as I can as this might turn into a battle.
