Best way to sell a damaged car??

A friend has an Insignia with some bodywork damage (rear bumper has a dent in it from reversing into someone's towbar and a rear wheel arch is creased inwards where it scraped against something solid). The damage would cost about £700 to fix and the car is worth about £4k without damage.

He wants shot of it.

WeBuyAnyCar seem to always offer you a fraction of what they estimate when you actually take the car in. Gumtree seems to invite gangs who squirt oil in the exhaust etc when you back is turned and so on. He just wants a fair and easy transaction?

What is the best place to sell it without getting conned or ripped off?

Put it on Ebay with lots of pictures of the damage & a detailed description someone will buy it but tell him to expect to be knocked down at least 1k (if he can't be arsed to fix it then he'll have to be prepared for it to cost him) because of the damage.

Contact one of the many YouTube car (salvage) repair channels and see if they might be interested in it.

I sold my work van through we buy any car around Christmas time. The online valuation was just under £6k but I think it had a ding, dent or scratch on every panel. When I turned up for my appointment the valuation was knocked down £4500 which was more than I was expecting and payment was received in under 24 hours

If he wants to avoid the drama of trying to sell a damaged car, spend the £700 and fix it first.

Either that or you just take your chances and list it for sale.

You could try WBAC and see what they say at the appointment, if its too low then just walk away.

Ebay is a good shout. Stick it on as an auction, set the price roughly what he wants for it at least and make sure you are detailed with the pictures and description.

I agree about Gumtree, full of timewasters and oddballs.
Had a car listed for £6500 a while back on there.
First message '5000?'. Literally just that.
