According to Classic and Sports Car, " Just over 50 years ago, you could still buy a new British car without a heater". Any idea what it was? It's stumped me!

I'm pretty sure a heater was an option on the Triumph Herald/Vitesse in the late 60's

Series IIA Land-Rovers (1961-71) had a heating unit listed as an optional extra in their catalogue. I imagine quite a few back to basics sportscars also didn't, Lotus Sevens, Caterhams, Ginettas and the like.

I think you can still buy a caterha, without a heater. Im sure it was an option.

As for a "normal" road car, probably something pre warmin design

I wonder if something like the Hindustan Ambassador was imported from India without a heater. Anyone know?

A heater was still an optional extra on the Hillman Imp around 72-73.

My 2017 Caterham doesn't have a heater. They are just extra weight you don't need.

What?
That'd put you in a Grande Punto or a 2006 Panda.
They most definitely came with heaters!

This thread is confusing.... are we discussing the last car sold in the U.K. without a heater as per the title or last British car sold without a heater as per the opening post?

The answer either way will be a Caterham.

Not sure if any Ariel Atom was ever offered with a heater, but that is still funny!
Don't know for sure, but it is possible that even now, a heater in a Caterham is regarded as an optional extra?

True but if we ignore stuff like that I wonder what the last car was that everyday people buy that was sold without a heater. I’m sure that’s what the OP is getting at rather than a couple of hundred specialist cars built each year.

Ford Anglia’s had optional heaters, same with Hillman Minx, Morris Minor and Imp’s.

I know it's not a car, but I think there was an early 80's ultra-poverty spec Bedford CF where the heater, passenger seat and even paint were optional extras.

Fiat 126p? Technically they had heaters but never worked. Also had the benefit of filling the cabin with carbon monoxide to calm you down on long trips according to my mother in law.
