I’m wondering if anyone has experience of getting a guitar body refurbed back to something resembling ‘as new’. I have a Fender Jagstang which my teenage self was less careful with than I should have been, so there are a few knocks on the body which I guess means the body really needs a full repaint.

If the lottery numbers came up I’d probably see if I could send to back to Fender, but I expect that might be prohibitively expensive otherwise.

It also need all the hardware redoing (my acidic sweat having rusted the pick guard screws and the poles on the pickups) and the wiring redoing too, but I’d be happy tackling all that.

Is that not what is termed relic?

DIY imo, otherwise google luthiers in your local area.

If I were you, I'd keep it as-is for nostalgia, perhaps a set-up/etc to get it playing as well as you want.

And then I'd spend the money that you were planning to spend on that refin and get a second guitar that contrasts well with your current one.

But... if you REALLY want some refin/tech recommendations, go here: https://www.thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/18/recom...
