992 GT3 ---thankfully only small improvement over 991.2 GT3
Discussion
Thanks porsche. I really thought the 992 GT3 was going to be so much more than the 991.2 GT3.. that it would hurt its value, but its not https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/10.g
like only 10 BHP more https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/10.gif ...completely irrelevant
Styling - not any better really IMHO..
Sure it goes round Nurenmburg a bit quicker but so would the 991.2 GT3 with those tyres https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/imgs/10.gif
This car need really 600 - 650 BHP normally aspirated to get with the competition i think , then I may come back and spend more...

Not sure what to make of the post, I would guess the point about the tyres is valid though (plus I thought the track is now faster due to resurfacing etc). I suspect the cars like the 918 would be faster than their official times on the new tyres?
The 918 on the latest R compound Cup 2s along with the smoother faster Ring will be quicker than the 991.2GT2 RS.. The tyres would gain about 8 seconds and the track another 4 which would give a time 6m 45s easily. For a 500bhp NA car to get 7m or under is out of this world special, hats off to Porsche for achieving this time, we can micro analyse 'Oh its the tyres, or its the new surface.... the sheer FACT is managed sub 7 take a bow...
As a few have already said, cant wait for CH & HC especially CH to test on a circuit, all the naysayers will be eating their words

The very points I have been making Taffy,Porsche should hire the ring for a day and put all the relevant cars from previous years on track on the same day on the same tyres with the same driver

That’s not good marketing though is it?Job Done
End of the day, all of these cars are faster than most of us!
For those of us who will not be allocated a 992GT3 the very small differences make it much easier to play with a used 991.2 GT3 ...
I am certainly not looking for more power, I prefer the analogue dials of the 991.2 and the .2 engine is now sorted.
I guess in my position the cost of a used 991.2 GT3 should also be compared to the overs market for the new 992GT3 ... for as long as it lasts ... which should be good for the secondhand market in general.
It will be interesting to see what happens ... my last GT3 was a 997.1 ... also secondhand ...

WBAC increased the offer on my 991.2 GT3 by £12,500 yesterday, versus their offer three weeks ago.
Rather surprised. Any ideas?
Usual strengthening of values ££ as Spring track season and warmer weather approaches.Rather surprised. Any ideas?
Forcasted this last Autumn and increasing rarity of quality 991.2 GT3s for sale has been driving prices.
Further strong price rises widely anticipated...watch the markets go crazy into summer as a repeat of last year esp on desirable and rare models.

I would have thought the question is which generation of GT3 gives the most smiles per £ ? 996?
Having said that, from the designers’ point of view they want each generation to be objectively better. I can appreciate this and lap times seem to be the current measure of this.
probably the 996 followed very closely by the 997Having said that, from the designers’ point of view they want each generation to be objectively better. I can appreciate this and lap times seem to be the current measure of this.

I am no expert but I would be surprised if values of the 991.2 GT3 did not slide a bit, after all it's 'old' now. Plenty of buyers will be 'upgrading' to the newer model regardless of only 10bhp and a swan neck for their money.speedbird1000 said:

More importantly do you think Porsche are bothered if you buy one or not - ? There will be enough of the favoured few and the rest of the hoi polloi or indeed hoity toity to satisfy the supply. Of that I am sure.Styling - not any better really IMHO..

I take your point on tyres though and as others have said perhaps some of the older models should be re-tested esp. with the smoother track. Schwedenkruz was always a bit of hold your breath 'did I get it right?'.
