I need to purchase a battery charger for my car just to trickle charge it in my garage as it's not used that often. The battery charger I am looking says it is up to 30Ah and the battery is 70Ah. On the information on the charger it says it is compatible with all sorts of cars, vans trucks etc. Will this charge my battery properly but just slower? If it's just slower then I'm not bothered about that.

Get a ctek charger, once they've trickle charged they maintain your battery without destroying it

I see from your other thread that you had trouble with a noco charger. I am not sure what brand you are looking at now but I would recommend Ctek, in particular the Ctek Mxs 5.0.

If you can’t afford a Ctek then I have found the cheap trickle chargers from Aldi and Lidl are okay (but only seem to last a couple of years). You would have to wait until they are on sale as part of their special deals.

Thanks for the recommendations, sounds like CTEK are the way forward then; think I'll be getting one of those. Just out of interest though, back to my original question, will the Ah of the charger mean that it wouldn't charge my 70Ah battery sufficiently or would it just be slower?

Battery chargers output is measured in amps. The ctek mxs 5.0 has a 5 amp output.
Ah is a measure of capacity so is used for batteries. What is the output of the charger in amps?

A 2amp charger is very low power, hence why they have recommended it for small car batteries (30Ah). It would probably be fine to keep a large battery topped up but would take a long time (35 hours) to charge a flat 70Ah battery.

The ctek 5.0 puts out up to 5 amps so can charge a larger battery in a shorter time.

That's great, thanks for the info. The ctek one you have recommended does look the business so I'll reckon I'll go for it, thanks again.

I bought a Ring RSC404 Smart Charger and have been really impressed with it for £23 from EBay.
