Black plastic trim restoration?
Discussion
Some of the plastic trim pieces on my car have gone a grey/white faded in places (sun damage, spent a lot of it's life in Japan Kobe region) I'm looking at the best way to restore these. I've tried 'Back to Black' but it seemed to just add a black grease layer that came off in a few days/weeks. Is there any recommended products that can actually clean and get these back to black properly?
I've seen a few mixed reviews of gtechniq C4 was contemplating trying that next unless anyone can recommend an alternative?

On a few older cars i've owned/restored (specifically Mk1 & Mk2 Golf GTi and a 205 GTi), I use a heat gun on a low setting to effectively 're-melt' the surface layer of the faded plastic bumper and arch trims, which brings it to a much darker shade, semi-permanently. I mean this really makes a huge difference on an older vehicle with washed out trim - but obviously you need to go careful and steady as you 'could' melt the plastic. Then use a trim treatment/protector on the top of that.
On the newer vehicles I own which arn't so far gone, I use something called PERL Trim treatment (as recommended by the guys over on detailing world) on all the plastics and rubber, diluted to around 4:1 with water, then applied with a sponge or cloth. Works really well and keeps the trim "dark" for a few weeks at least.
"Back to Black" is much like "T-Cut"......cheap and cheerful household name readily available in Halfords and Tesco, but actual performance is terrible compared to offerings from more professional quality brands like Maguire's / Chemical Guys / AG / G-Techniq etc.
