Hi all - need to get an annual service sorted for my 2010 RX450h and don’t fancy the local Lexus dealer. I have an indie I’ve used before for other cars but as I understand it the 15 year hybrid system warranty will only be valid if it’s had an annual ‘hybrid health check’? Where do all the Uber cabbies go?! Or should I just not worry about the hybrid health and get a ‘normal’ service?

Thoughts welcome.
Thanks

MIght be worth checking on the Lexus OC, though from experience it's relatveily quiet (in the GS area) much of the talk is on older models.

I think you can book the HHC separately.

You can just get the hybrid health check separately. Ask the dealer for the essential service price as well, and then compare the price to an independent. Lexus owners are fussy and would only buy with a Lexus history. If you plan to sell soon go to Lexus. If keeping long term, go independent.

Toyota dealer? I had a 2010 RX450 and took it to Toyota for some things.

It did go to the Lexus dealer (further away) for servicing, but since they collected it and brought it back I didn't mind that. I thought the pricing was quite competitive anyway - they seemed very ready to discount if you asked.

Thanks all.

I'll probably keep for a good few years as the family transport...suits my current needs pretty well and easy to live with. I have a Lexus dealer literally 5 mins walk away but was put off by them saying replacing the tailgate struts would incur a £186 'diagnostic' fee... I'll do that myself then thanks! Essential Minor Service is £245... seems fairly steep, but bearable.

Lexus Gatwick, who I bought it from, also claimed they gave it a major service which should include a 12V battery check, but it was flat 2 weeks after buying the car, still on its original one.

The problem with Toyota (and I assume Lexus as well) is that they make so little from repairs that they have to screw the customer via Service charges biggrin

I remember them quoting me for £315 for an O2 sensor......

In case anyone cares... did a minor essential care service, plus changed coolant (10yr/ 100k item) and aircon service. c. £660.

And ordered tailgate struts myself that I will attempt to fit one day...

Its that with Lexus? I've skipped servicing on the IS300H this year- it did 3000 miles last year, MOT £35 job done.

We are keeping the IS300H till it falls apart, given the fact at 6 years old its only covered 33k miles and apart from parking scrapes looks and feels as new, I recon it'll be in the family for a long long time!!

Am not bothered by the hybrid warranty, I need every £ saved running the Lexus to pay for an extended warranty on the Tesla (currently has an inoperable passenger side door waiting on parts). I find warranty discussions on any Lexus to be quite comical, its like grade A students worrying about not getting 100% when the rest of us are happy with a Pass smile.

Yes Lexus dealer at the end of the road... I’ve no doubt that it would have carried on a another year without the service, but it’s our only car so wanted to keep it in decent shape. They quite comically suggested it needed two new front wishbones due to ‘slight cracking of rubber bushes’ which didn’t even trigger an MOT advisory! Oh and at £1300!! Quick google suggests this is a common Lexus joke...
