What is going on with this bike ??
Discussion
Just bought a cheap 125 scooter project.(sold as non runner with v5)
I’m a bit confused as After looking at the mot history it appears to have done no miles since the 2019 mot and had no advisories and the clocks also seems to be working fine ??
The first thing I noticed there is no battery in it so going to try a new one and see what happens .general condition of tyres shock absorbers etc not great so it’s hard to believe how there would be no advisories .its unlikely to be stolen as got the correct v5 and checked all the numbers

A lot of 125 scooters have dubious backgrounds and are owned by people with the mechanical ability of a lettuce, the speedo isn't checked for the mot so it wouldn't necessarily fail for the lack of a working one (which would of course stop the odometer working)

That’s definitely true about some 125 owners .I’d guess looking at the history that the odometer works fine and the chap took it for an mot on his trailer which could explain mileage but then why does he then take battery out and sell it for spares a year later..looks like there is fair chance it will run with the battery but i suspect it’s not that simple .Edited by Jazoli on Monday 1st March 22:08

Another Chinese one?
Brave unless the last one somehow worked out for you.
Haha yes the last one was a Chinese based engine but far better build quality than first thought but still nothing compared to Japanese Brave unless the last one somehow worked out for you.
This other one is Italian made aprilla before Piaggio took them over .seems a rare bike actually not many on them left anymore
Have just started tinkering with the new bike ...after trying a new battery which I know is fine and checking fuse still got no electrics coming on .all wires look to be there and not broken ,
Can’t figure out what happened to the bike .apparently it ran before it was stored for a while .at a guess 6 months looking at mot’s

Does it have an ECU? My lad's PGO scooter has one slightly bigger than a regular relay. If that's stuffed, might it stop anything from working? Can’t figure out what happened to the bike .apparently it ran before it was stored for a while .at a guess 6 months looking at mot’s

How old is the petrol in it? Is it getting fuel at the carb?
New ish petrol in there and should go (but could be worth doing anyway)It’s a slow chugging sound and engages with starting system but engine doesn’t go.seems as though it might be duff starter motor or ignition switch
