It looks like it should be good, the trailer is very cool.

To be fair... CM looked amazing before launch. It showed setting up kill zones and welding doors shut to channel the aliens...

Then we got this...

Official Trailer

I like the look of this. Got a Left 4 Dead Coop experience about it, with Gears of War style Mechanics.

Might be rose tinted glasses but I remember the Aliens from AVP being terrifyingly fast. This looks slower and more Zerg rush.

Same, the blip of the tracker when a single Alien was getting closer was terrifying.
This looks like Space Hulk

I am preparing myself for disappointment, tempered with the slightest tinge of hope.

The trailer looks great but having seen this franchise ruined by cack-handed game developers previously, I am cautious. There is so much potential, so I hope they make a good job of it.

Not overly keen on the third person aspect (assuming it is, only briefly watched the trailer on my lunch break).

I just want a solid reliable, well made FPS Aliens franchise game hehe

Exactly... It doesn't even have to be great...just Not st would be good at this stage.

GTFO reskinnned and tweeked to be a bit less stealth would be a good start.

Indeed, AVP from 2010 was, surprisingly, a pretty good game. Alien isolation was hugely popular, too. People want this franchise to keep going.

Just had a wee look on steam and AVP 2010 has got really good reviews actually. Don't remember it being popular at launch, though I enjoyed it.

I bought Colonial Marines for £1.49 and still felt ripped off. Jesus Christ it was awful. Shooting directly at the aliens was still missing them, my character sank into the floors, aliens levitating...

At least this couldn’t be any worse.

AVP from 2010 was a bit of a let down. It built up the atmosphere and then destroyed it with weak aliens that did no damage. Plus the graphics were terrible.

The original AVP from 1999 and the sequel from the early 00s were visceral, incredibly fast paced games, properly fear and adrenaline rushes and fairly advanced for their time. I played those back in their day so I found the remake to be underwhelming.

Never the less I'm cautiously optimistic.

BTW if you want a good movie franchise game from recent years. Look no further than Terminator: Resistance.

Not perfect but pretty damn good considering it never had anything close to an AAA budget.

Good find.

It's a no from me. Think I'll wait for it to hit the steam sale.

Alien games need suspense and that seems to be devoid of any. 3rd person doesn't help.

Oh well, someone will reboot avp at some point.

This!

Isolation was much more tense. The old AVP game was pretty tense too, they nailed it. Fireteam seems a bit more like a hack-n-slash with auto-targeting.

What's the most tense game you played?

F.E.A.R was pretty tense. Any others?

Alien trilogy on ps2 nailed the suspense aspect.

I don't want loads of aliens... I want a slow burn that starts with the classic slow beep. I want to explore and piece together what has happened... Then I wan the slowly creeping terror of an unstoppable predator... Not alien shaped cannon fodder.

Both films were over half way through before you even saw an alien.... That's why they work.
