When we got the Switch I set it up with an account and then created 2 kids accounts

I remember it being a faff at the time (on a Christmas morning)

I've spent a couple of hours at the weekend in a cyclic hell trying to get it setup so he can play Fifa against one of his mates. He's not interested in the online side of the game, apart from 1 on 1 with a mate

None of the forums are particularly helpful, the Switch ID and password work fine, the Fifa end just refuses to connect

I'll get more comprehensive error messages when I have the thing in my hand at the weekend, but anyone seen this before?

A lot of online games won’t let you play online from a kids account, maybe that’s the problem. I think fifa you need to be 13.

Do you have an online subscription? Think you have to pay to go online with the Switch.

(Not turned that on for mine - don't want it hooked up to the 'net just yet).

Pretty sure you don’t need a subscription, my daughter plays Fortnite and she doesn’t have one.

Fortnite doesn't require online membership to play online, but most (including FIFA) do.

We have membership, as far as safe gaming environments go it's about as good as it gets. My son is 6 and occasionally plays Mario Kart and Splatoon 2 online, never had a single issue, it's all very sanitized.

Thanks all, created him a new Nintendo child account and a new EA account with a DoB so he's 13 and that seems to have fixed it.
