Spanish Asterix

As a kid I found Asterix the Gaul books very helpful when learning French.

Is there an equivalent character/series in Castilian Spanish?

I shall ask my suitably Spanish better half who is currently in Bilbao. Funnily enough I was sorting through my mountain of Asterix and Tintin books just last week. When I studied GCSE and A Level Spanish I was told to watch Telenovelas.....do not do this if you value your IQ.

My wife found Peppa Pig pretty good in Dutch, it's been dubbed in to a lot of languages and they all seem to be on youtube.
