I’ve got a deposit down on a 991.2 and have asked for a video of the underneath from the OPC.

The car is a 2016 with 13.5k miles. I’ve looked at it and it seems a bit of a mess to me but I only have my last 911 to compare it to (2013 + 14k miles). I garage my cars and rarely go out in bad weather so maybe this is what cars that get driven regardless of conditions look like. I really don’t know so hoping somebody with more experience might be happy for me to forward them the video and give me an honest opinion?

Also - the wheels have/had rusted bolts in them which I also never experienced with either of my other Porsches. Is this fairly normal or has the car been parked in a pond?

Thanks for any help.

Depends where the car has been used/how long been standing/coated in road salt or not damp/washed regularly with wet brakes not dried off.

Shouldn't be much surface corrosion on the underside of a 5 year old 911.

Wheel nuts could be rusty due to overly acidic cheap wheel cleaners applied during valeting which can also incidentally invalidate wheel warranty.

If you have any reservations I would find another car.

The car your looking at fairly normal. Sad to say but since the introduction of the 996 the fixings used underneath 911's have been of such poor choice metallurgy they corrode rapidly. Not surprised to see rusted bolts and nuts in your pictures. I've run a 2000 Polo Gti alongside my 911's , in the past 20 years the porsches have needed rads, condensers, brake lines, bolts replacing...all due to poor quality materials...the wee polo, same driver , same journeys..none of the above! Still love the 911 but it certainly deserves better periferal materials.
