Hi all,

It’s my brothers 30th birthday in a few weeks so looking to get him a watch.

Got circa £3k to spend - any suggestions?

Have been looking at the Breitling Navitimer 8, which is coming in at £2.1k.

I’m sure you will get similar responses here but any idea what style/brand of watches he likes? If he’s neutral people will be able to make suggestions based on whether you want good pedigree in the watch world, minimise depreciation, etc. You could also look at pre-loved to effectively expand your budget range. Personally like the current Tudor range

To be honest he’s not very picky so open to all.

Agree re the Tudor range, and have looked at a few pieces - need to stay away from the BB58’s as I have it haha

It would be a Tudor for me, I fully intend to go and buy one myself when shops reopen and I can handle one and try it for size etc.

I’m trying hard not to buy one of these

Oris aquis are great value I think.

Or a bit more bling with something like this.

I like the cobra yellow avenger 2 on a black/rubber strap

Note, the links were just examples, Never used the shop so not suggesting it.

For a little over 3k if you can argue for a discount you could get a Pelagos

If I was to be considering this, I’d chose to go this way. I think the blue suits it far better

I’d like one myself but can’t come close to justifying it at the moment.

Omega planet ocean (pre ceramic)

42mm if he's normal size

45.5mm if his arms are PH size

Tudor for me as well.

Which BB58 have you got? the black or blue, I prefer the black, if you've got black then get him blue or vice versa.

Me too laugh

OP - blue BB58 would be my choice. I'm hoping to get one from the Mrs for my combined 40th/wedding present biggrin

If he isn’t a watch geek I’d go for omega or breitling as brands. Tudor has the cheap Rolex image in non geek circles.

I've got the black version. Seamaster 300 in blue..... good suggestion though - thank you, lets see if my local ad has any without a waiting list

I've seen the blue on in 2x Oxford AD in December, on strap and bracelet. They also had the GMT (I've got) and Black BB58.

my Seamaster 300 is a nicer wear than my Tudor GMT in terms of weight etc.

Really fancy that as the size makes spot on for me, i bought a GMT in 41mm and gave to my son as was to small for my taste

Bremont MB ? I recently sold mine as I stopped wearing it but almost wish I’d have held onto it. They’re a handsome & well made watch.
