Emergency campaign - all do this!

Just got an email with a rather sensible suggestion, especially given yesterday-

"East Anglian Ambulance Service have launched a national "In case of Emergency (ICE)" campaign with the support of Falklands war hero Simon Weston.

The idea is that you store the word "ICE" in your mobile phone address book, and against it enter the number of the person you would want to be contacted "In Case of Emergency". In an emergency situation ambulance and hospital staff will then be able to quickly find out who your next of kin are and be able to contact them. It's so simple - everyone can do it. Please do. Please will you also forward this to everybody in your address book, it won't take too many forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life."

Seems so sensible and obvious, suprising it hasn't be done before. Apologies if this has been posted already

have just copied g/f and family numbers with ICE: prefix... so now have 4 ICE numbers stored.

excellent idea

'Sponsored by FastTax' ???? sounds like a crock of shit to me and will be given extra unwarranted attention caused by yesterday's bombs.

Anyone's mobile is gonna have stuff in it like Mum, Dad, Sarah etc, it wouldn't take a genius to figure out a way to call someone.

Edited to add: this is not something that has emerged as new following yesterday. If you read the article, you will seen the thinking behind it. My phone has about 100+ numbers in it and goes we me pretty much everyone. Just seems like common sense. We dial 999 when in trouble, emergency services can look at our phones for an ICE contact name: works both ways.

Reason for my cynicism was that in TUS 373's original post, which he has now edited, at the end of the email it said 'Sponsored by FasTax.co.uk'. Looked pretty much like a spam email to me.
