Lots of these posts in the history.

The parents are practically being cookcooed by the early 20s headcase daughter and some chav of a bloke she has in there at the moment.

Today they began smoking cannabis at 9 and I can still smell it at 4pm now, they play music and they shout st each other through rooms.

They have a history of domestic arguing you can hear down the Street, it's a vermin family it really is.

What should I do? I have a 4 month old child I wouldn't mind sitting in my garden with in the coming weeks.

How much even is weed to be jobless and smoking it all frigging day.

Being honest all you can do is move, however there is a fair chance (unless spending £££) there will be another waiting for you there however....

Very difficult and possibly complex situation. Neighbour problems can take time to resolve.

Inform local authority and police. They may already have records on the family for any number of reasons.

Keep a diary noting any incidents.

Good luck!

Good point tbh when you look at the police.gov records the address has had previous. (Abuse?)

As you say only thing is to up sticks, but you can't choose the neighbours.

The latest real-time update is burning some old chairs in the garden now.

It will be my last summer of tolerance, the teenager had an all night party year before last and I will not be refraining from calling 101 this time.

The neighbour isn't even next door it backs onto us. 🙄

Needs to tread very carefully. I'd say they aren't deliberately trying to make his life a misery, more that they just aren't thinking and certainly won't care. They are probably just living their scumbag lives as they see fit.
If this is handled in the wrong way, then they might actually start to try and make it miserable then its going to be a whole different ball game.
Seems the law is very weak when it comes to neighbour disputes, and often the victims are made to be the villain.
Good luck.

Er before lockdown....they've been reserved over previous lockdowns and only smoked bong bottles in the garden.

You don't know the half of what they do as I could write a novel here.

As for the going out bit post lockdown im not sure, the daughter is a drug addict and finding money from somewhere to do drugs all day.

I will just have to hope this resolves itself, as stated they clearly don't have any form of civil manners so if I confront the situation it will only be me in the wrong.

Keep a diary laugh All that does is wind you up seeing it all in black and white. Police and LA will do nothing other than appoint case workers or send a strongly worded letter. Only option is to move and then you would have to declare any issues with neighbours.

Call up the fuzz for each of the cannabis offences. For the noise, the procedure I believe is to first speak to them. Then, when they presumably chav-like-style don't change behaviour, you can report it, after which you keep a log of noisy disturbances and if need be, recordings.
This will then allow them to issue an order if the behaviour continues.
I don't advocate moving although I know others do; as you should not have to run away from crappy people. They're the ones who need to change.
A bit of a process and faff but probably worth it in the long run, lest the scrote stays longer term rather than sodding off with the nasty other half.

The plod would only be really interested if they are dealing rather than just smoking the stuff in their own home.

Good idea - in theory.
But in the real world do you really expect people like that to take any notice of 'an order'?

The frozen sausages probably won’t even be noticed, as the lawn is likely overgrown with broken kids toys strewn everywhere. And probably a washing machine too.

Good lord, the memories have come flooding back. I had the very same situation. We own the house, the house next door is a council house (Well not really, we don't have council houses here. It's some sort of complicated 3rd party that looks after the housing). The old lady next door passed away and the house was vacant for a while. I took advantage of the drive space for a few months then it all went south at a rate of knots. One day we noticed some nefarious characters snooping around the back of the house. When I went to investigate they'd scarpered. Interesting. A couple of weeks went by, then it was moving day. Oh boy. The whole street was rammed with cars in various states of repair. They must've employed the local travelling fraternity in its entirety. It wasn't long before it went further south. Within days there was the smell of weed, screaming kids (one of which was new born at the time, great start to life), screaming adults to the point we could understand what they were saying through the walls, things broken, things thrown, more screaming kids, slammed doors, the absolute works. What most people may get in a year, we were getting each week without fail. There were various cars on the drive that were clearly stolen. Defenders, VW's, Astra VXR's and there were a good 8/9 motorbikes in the back garden that were also clearly stolen. I know they were stolen because the police came and jammed up our street with recovery wagons when getting rid. They even tried stealing our motorbike once. We left it out but chained up at the back of our van overnight since it was being used the next day in the early hours. When I went to unchain it, there were obvious signs of hammer blows on the lock and the lock cover was opened and damaged. Fortunately they aren't the most intelligent of people and just tried a few hammer blows to destroy an Oxford bike lock (at least one of which they missed and hit the floor..). We live in a road that's a cul-de-sac but we're not the end of the cul-de-sac, there's another road off ours that's the very end. You can get out on foot/pushbike but they used to ride their stolen bikes down the footpath to cut out through the village. One time, with some stolen motorbikes in the garden, the police did one of their raids (one of at least 10) and the fella actually bent and slid through the fence into our garden. My dogs were all too pleased to have a new play mate and made him escape into the waiting arms of our local constabulary. None of my dogs would dare harm a human, they're all far too well disciplined for that but they're big, scary and bloody quick. We also told them they were only trustworthy while I'm around. Next time they had friends around, I used my loudest impact drive and whacking great big screws to secure my now broken fence panel in place. They made no bones about buying/selling drugs too. VW Bora with craptastic wrap on and silly exhaust would pull up, beep in the middle of the street and sometimes even throw the drugs onto their lawn if they were in a rush. There were endless fights, too. Literally every other day, no exaggeration. One time I thought they'd actually killed each other but it turns out one of them had thrown a wardrobe down the stairs in a fit of rage. The smell of weed permeated through the walls (months after they'd moved out, it could still be smelled in our upstairs). Mid summer and we had to have all the doors and windows shut because the smell was sickening. Just under 2 years they were there. Within 3 months we'd contacted the housing company and been given a nuisance neighbor booklet. It was meant to last 2 months, it was full in a week. I bet we went through 20 of them before they just stopped sending them out. We must've made 150+ calls to the lady in the housing company dealing with this trying to get action taken. Their usual response was "we're building a case". I don't know if other neighbors were complaining too. They were no strangers to the arguments that spilled into the street. The number of times we called the police was insane. I remember one Sunday morning, we'd been to a car boot sale and were coming back about 10:30. We were overtaken by a copper driving at Mach 1, full blue lights and sirens. We joked how it would probably be our next door neighbors. We shouldn't have joked. There were 4 police cars strewn across our road all entering their house and doing police stuff. The next weekend, more police after I'd called them because they were in the garden and the woman was literally trying to claw the eyes out of the fella who swiftly put her on her arse. The most that happened was the 2 kids were taken off them and a third kid that they thought would be a good idea was removed from them at birth. Even after the plethora of stolen vehicles were removed, she stayed at home and he was back later on. Never seemed to go missing for any longer than a day or 2 either so presumably get off with a wrist slap for handling stolen goods and cloning reg plates. The kids all had daft council names too that were on par with Destiny and Alberto. The day they moved out was absolute bliss. They left the garden in an absolute state. Squatters wouldn't have lived in that place. You could see through the windows that the carpets were gone, there were holes in the wall, still had crayon drawings from kids on the wall, dirt all over everywhere.. God help the upstairs. The gate to the back garden was flat on the ground, a knackered gazebo covered a moldy couch in the garden, there was a washing machine drum full of ashes they'd used to burn whatever it may be and had bits of clothes in there too. Honestly, it was awful for their duration. The next couple that have moved in are a bit noisy but nowhere near the levels of shrieking and chaos that the druggies were.

If you don't want to move, or own the house you're in, just keep making complaints. Keep pestering them by making calls, sending emails, filling in their booklet things, everything you can to the council and police. Eventually they'll get fed up enough to do something about it. If you have the opportunity to move then do so and you might end up with a nicer house out of it too. Best of luck.

I'd love to say I have the perfect solution - no neighbours for 400 yards in any direction.

But as I was reading the above, with which I have the greatest sympathy, my local farmer is sawing stuff up in the field behind my house with a chain saw, the traffic is using the road I live on as a cut through between villages, and in 8 years I have completely failed to get traffic banned from the A1, which is 800 yards upwind of us. It isn't quiet in the country.
