I have bought an old (1969) David Brown tractor and the electrics have been butchered.

I need help with wiring an alternator where it originally had an old dynamo.
Now it's come with an alternator fitted and one has wire coming off of it, but I don't know if it was ever a successful installation.

I think the alternator is meant for a Toyota but that's neither here or there. I can't find a decent schematic for it showing what connections to be made and where. Also the 3 spade terminals (FNE).

What terminals would I put a meter on to test for output with the engine running? Currently the tractor has no electronics, but I'd like to wire the lights up and an extra spot or two if possible.

My tractor dash does have a neon for charging, but mostly I just need it to charge the battery. Worse case I'll just buy a solar panel to keep it topped up.

I get the feeling that this is an external regulator alternator....which might be incompatible?

I think you might be better off getting a Lucas alternator, plenty of info on those and will always be available.

I'm in Australia, so Lucas aren't so common here. Didn't really want to spend $$$ on her if I could use what I have.
