Apple engineered crashing
Discussion
Quite common with all OS updates. Android for example, Google will make sure all the core Google apps work with the new OS version before its pushed out. But third party apps probably wont work correctly.
Barclays are a bugger at taking forever to get their app working with new OS versions of Android.

That's a bit strong in my opinion. Been using android for 10+years, and I've not had app issues following OS updates in at least 5-6 years on android. In fact I've only had one major issue with an app in the last 5-6 years when the app developers pushed a fault out with an update.Barclays are a bugger at taking forever to get their app working with new OS versions of Android.
If developers can't resolve any issue which may have crept in with code changes and app updates I just remove the app and stop using it. I wouldn't waste time on something which is buggy. But thankfully I've not had to do that in a long, long time.
I will concede that I've primarily used Nexus and Pixel devices since 2011 though, so perhaps the OS codebase is more stable than tweaked versions of the OS from other various OEM's.

I've been Nexus/Pixel as well since Nexus 5. Barclays are the one for me, guarantee when Android 12 comes out in a few months their app will stop working. I don't have many 3rd party apps these days so dont suffer many issues.
Never dealt with Barclays, but often see complaints about their app on here.
Is their service app-only when on mobile, or can it also be accessed in a web browser on a phone or tablet?
I think most banks these days push to app only when on mobile, for extra verification, 2FA options for periodic checks etc

Not had issues myself, but Mrs Beano used to be regularly "disappointed" with trying to get access to her Barclays account. Is their service app-only when on mobile, or can it also be accessed in a web browser on a phone or tablet?

Generally though, these sort of providers seem to have their act together nowadays.
And - if they don't - the customer always has a choice.
Generally, my philosophy is that Apple offer everyone the latest OS experience with the most up-to-date level of security and barring the odd temporary glitch the prevention-is-better-than-cure model of having the latest wherever a device allows it has to be the best compromise.

Am I the only one that’s noticing a pattern recently, whenever a new IPadOS is released, even a minor point one, that everything, apps, browsers randomly crash and restart, this never happens at any other time than when a bug update has been rolled out.
How old are the device(s) you're updating? We've three iPads, I suppose oldest maybe 4yrs old, all used extensively and (touch wood) haven't seen any issues.I use the Brave Browser for PH on one of them, and that usually crashes on open, but it's always done that.
Sounds like you've just had bad luck.
Between me and my other half, we have
2008 Macbook pro
2014 iPad air 2
2017 Apple watch Series 3
2018 iPhone XS max
2019 iPhone 11 Pro max
2020 27" iMac
all run flawlessly and have regular software updates (just security patches for the MBP)
I am quite OCD when it comes to looking after tech though, so they get treated with kid gloves, no one watches porn or installs dodgy jailbreaks etc so i dunno, maybe we are just lucky ?

I thenk that's a Gen2 then, although oddly Apple seems not to have given the 10.5" model a generation number. The Gen 1 Pro's came out a couple of years prior.

Another annoyance is Barclays seem to be one of the only UK banks not to use Google Pay. Generally though, these sort of providers seem to have their act together nowadays.
