Hi all,

Looked out my window earlier to see a BA Embraer ERJ-190 approaching Biggin Hill and landing there. Seems unusual (certainly larger than what we normally see arriving/departing!) any ideas why?

Thanks!

Gotcha! Thanks beer

Any suggestions as to its appearance? Alternative for City? If so, why couldn't they land there this morning I wonder?

Could be a charter flight or positioning for one.

With lack of recent hours, captain probably mistook it for LCY.

I would hazard guess it will be for a football team flight for a Champions League/Europa League fixture this week. Possibly Arsenal away at Olympiakos

Highly unlikely IMO. That's a bit of a schlep for Arsenal, plus they usually fly out of Stansted.

Possibly wrong then, but Newcastle were on a BA Embraer the other week when they played Villa

The aircraft was G-LCYM. It was operating British Airways flights CJ7033 and CJ7034 between London City, Biggin Hill and Antwerp.
It's not a football charter.

Thanks 48k.

Is that a usual route then or what would have been the reason for that itinerary?

It's not a usual route, there aren't any scheduled flights out of Biggin it's a business and GA airfield. The route is usually direct London City to Antwerp.

If you punch G-LCYM in to PlaneFinder (https://planefinder.net/) and look at the history you'll see it did the same thing on 28th Feb as well.

It flew in to Biggin again this morning from London City. A whole 8 minutes of flying time laugh

Cheaper to park at Biggin than LCY?
