Windows 10 sound issues

Dont normally listen to music through my Win10 desktop but tried yesterday and every couple of seconds there was a brief glitch noise.

Im running an old P6x58d-e motherboard using the onboard realtek audio.

The glitch was present on Spotify and various mp3 files i tried that were on the hard drive.

Computer wasnt doing anything else other than the usual OS stuff and playing the audio file.

I can listen fine on other devices - phone and chromebook.

I know its a vague issue ive described, but anybody got any ideas what it might be?

Check Windows Update, View Optional Updates, Driver Updates and see if there is anything listed for your sound card?
