Hi all

Apologies if covered before, but the battery in my DB11 will be 6 years old this year. Whilst I've had no trouble with it, it starts first time and the battery is on a battery conditioner when not in use, I'm thinking I should be looking to replace it. I'd like to do it myself, but don't have OBD? if lots of faults thrown up, when reconnecting, and things need recalibrating?

My local AM dealer wants £288 for a new battery(92AH 850 AMPS) and £200 for one hours labour, both inc VAT. I'm happy to pay if need be, but like a challenge!

Any advice gratefully received.

On my Vantage I changed the battery last year, bought a Bosch battery for about £140 online and fit myself in 30 mins. I have trickle charger I used via the boot charge port and left it plugged in whilst I changed the battery, so no loss of power to the car, no resetting of anything.

Very sensible to do a change before the voltage drops and everything goes haywire. I did the same, but must admit only thought about a change when the original battery was 8 years old. Remarkable how long some batteries do last now. My daily car has a batttery, which I recently discovered is 11 years old and still working properly.

This is what I had to pay a main dealer a few years ago but I had no choice as my car was immobilised because the battery (which was fairly new at the time) was killed off prematurely by the tracker.

Did someone say on this forum that Halfords changed a battery for £15-£20 (plus the cost of the battery)? I did ask which Halfords provided this service but didn't hear back.

Thanks for your input. That's useful to know about keeping trickle charger on during changeover. It wasn't so much about getting the battery as I've used Tayna before, more the moment when I reconnect, but sounds like it should be ok.

I notice Tayna do provide a fitting service via local contractor. Not sure about Halfords but will look into.
Thanks once again.

All Halfords offer a battery fitting service, I think its £10-15. They also test the battery first, I was there once in recent years and they tested the battery in my Range Rover sport as I thought it was on the way out mid winter, but they said it was fine and sent me away. I replaced it about 18 months later.
