Help... builders walked off the job, Lowestoft
Discussion
Hi Can anyone offer me some advice.
I am installing some new plant on my commercial premises and I employed a groundworking company. (recommended to me a as being good)to cast the concrete base and run the services, etc.
The job has not gone well, poor workmanship, running late, and demands for extra money without justification.
I have refused to be held to ransom so the firm walked off leaving the job 80% unfinished with just a few days to go. A document was signed by the builder to finsh by the 12th of July as the equipment arrives at the end of July.
I have paid a £3000 stage payment and paid for some materials direct (after I sensed he had cashflow problems)
This dealay is going to cause serious ploblems and financial loss , loss of revenue from the plant being paid for and not earning money, the extra cost of employing new builders at short notice, etc, etc.
Can anyone offer me advice on how I stand legally, this firm is a ltd company and almost certainly without money or assets but could I chase him personally as a director for "walking"
Thanks in advance for your help
