991.2 Carrera 4GTS Queries
Discussion
Couple of quick questions which hopefully someone will be able to advise on as looking at potentially purchasing one this week;
1. Standard stereo system (ie non Bose/Burmeister). How bad is it, and if 'very' can it be upgraded without much issues (as assume it would be speakers more than the unit itself) ?
2. Can steering wheels be changed. Car in looking at appears to have a leather wheel, but would prefer alcantara

Steering wheel can be easily changed...OPC will probably want something like £1k for a wheel though. Can't help on the stereo although my wife's Boxster has the standard set up and it's fine. My 991.2 has Bose, I don't think it's a wow system to be honest so I don't think it would bother me if it didn't have it.
One thing to mention is that 991.2's built after summer 2018 have GPF's fitted so won't sound quite as good.

Much appreciated, re the wheel. One thing to mention is that 991.2's built after summer 2018 have GPF's fitted so won't sound quite as good.
I've read online about the stereo being pretty poor, but the tweeter speakers being able to be upgraded relatively easily which vastly improve sound.
Its a November 2018 car.
The other thing is that the purchase would be through an independant and not through an OPC, so whilst the car is under 3 years old I understand that the Porsche warranty would not be transferable. Will Porsche reinstate the warranty subject to relevant checks ?
Also, is it advisable to get the car inspected by an independent inspector ?

Pretty sure as its the original warranty on the car that will transfer, believe the issue only arises if the car has an extended warranty on and the car passes through a non-OPC then the warranty is cancelled. Even then savvy dealers will make sure the sale is effectively between you and previous owner to prevent this issue.

This is correct. You can also extend the warranty at three years (or before) at any OPC...cost circa £1400 per year. You can extend for 12 or 24 months. Personally I would recommend doing so. Gassing Station | 911/Carrera GT | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
