how's this logo look and how can it be implemented?

I have been trading quite some time and have the same old generic logo i picked off of some website years ago and feel its time for a change and time for a better logo.
I went on fiverr and someone has produced this logo which tbh i really like.
Questions for the powerful minds of pistonheads!
1. does it look good, professional and easily read/ recognisable?
2. could it be improved/altered and where?
3. would the sort of 3d effect is has be easily implemented on van sign writing, t-shirts etc?
4. i am williams paving ltd. do i legally have to display the ltd bit? i always have but think its neater without.
to me it looks good, it has elements of my old logo, it has lines which line up and 'mitres' in the main w which may not be obvious but relates to the quality paving i do. Its also very easily read, looks smart and doesnt look 'traveller' which doing what i do is important not to

They've loaded up now so I can see. The logo they've designed for you looks childish and unprofessional and I'd expect it to be on a magnetic sign on each door of your Irish registered flat bed Tranny.
Try something lower case, and something which leads the eye back into the design rather than away from it

I'd agree, it looks gash. I studied marketing rather than graphic design but something about the W and P is way off. Upper case is harder to read (it's why motorway signage is lower case) and it seems like it's trying to be clever but isn't executed well (plus no customer will be any the wiser anyway).
People (especially at the outset of a business) get way over invested in logos and how important they think they are. For most small businesses as long as it's legible it's going to make literally f
k all difference to anything. Stick with what you have or pay some proper money for a better one.
A nice clean san serif font, lower case, with 'Williams' in light type and 'Paving' in bold either underneath or alongside would be better than both imo. Big business logos are usually simple, for good reason. Its only a case of im getting a new truck, new digger and all my work shirts need replacing. I thought as the logo is now old and i never really loved it (although i must say a few people have said it looks good) i thought i would take the opportunity to replace it. I dont think it will do much for me tbh, other than a personal vanity project
I had an idea that the w and p would become the sort of main characters with the w replicating mitre cuts which i do agree hasn't been executed to my minds expectation in the image.
I like the new logos, but see no point in changing it as I like the old one too. Logos appear to be one of those things loved my marketing types. No surprise I guess its their job to deal with them.
I would just let your reputation do your selling for you. The greater indication of cowboys in the landscaping business in my opinion are a transit, and only a mobile number. I would only use someone local to me to do landscaping, paving etc so would expect them to have a local landline.

It's nice to have a change now and again and if you are going to the expense of new uniforms etc then why not update the logo.
I too think it wont make a blind bit of difference to how much business you would gain from the change but that isn't always the motivation.

It's not great.
Typeface is an off the shelf one, with modified initial letters. The 3D effect is difficult to reproduce in embroidery or screenprinting, so you will need a "flat" version as well. Also, does it work in monochrome? Some things can only be reproduced economically single colour.
Does Fiverr really charge £5? That's maybe 15 mins of work so three designs get five minutes each...

For what my opinion is worth on this (and it’s not much, I’m only a likely punter for your services) I prefer the old logo and font, although it (font) could be bigger. Albeit, I would ask if the pictogram of a pyramid ? Is representative of much of your work...

No issue on not having ltd in your logo. But there are basic requirements for websites etc

Exactly this. You could have paid Saatchi's £10k for a logo and you'd still get the same mix of responses. If you like it - it's your business so run with it.Though since you've asked (and as a former Graphic Designer myself) - it's not too bad but nor is it particularly good. The bevel effect - that's a bit 1990's. The angled cut off on the up and downstrokes makes it look aggressive. A simple, short strapline might improve the balance; 'Laid with Care' (not that, obviously!)
Love the Scrabble Tile idea!
