996 C4S for sale - Friends Green Porsche
Discussion
This has recently caught my eye. Given the dealer is down the road, might contact them. I have never heard of them.

Thanks - looks in stunning condition, just don’t know much about the dealer. Looks like 996 are their thing. Seems to be a young business. Wondering if anyone purchased from them on here? G
This was my car until recently.
I was looking to sell it on and didn't want to go down the private sale route. I contacted Friends Green Porsche after watching many youtube videos. They seem to invest in the cars that they buy and sell on, fixing any faults that they find including replacing the IMS.
I found FGP to be good to deal with and if I was in the market to acquire another 'older' car, then, based on what I've seen, I would probably go to them.
I already miss the car, whoever buys it will not be disappointed, sorely tempted to buy it back :-)

Well that's definitely not suspicious. I was looking to sell it on and didn't want to go down the private sale route. I contacted Friends Green Porsche after watching many youtube videos. Any reason why you feel my post is suspicious?
I was just trying to be helpful, if anyone was interested in buying the car I presumed that being able to contact a former owner would be useful. Maybe I'm just not made for these cynical times!

You've never ever posted before. Your one and only post is singing the praises of the garage selling 'your' car saying how well they prepare it and fix everything, and that you're actually tempted to buy it back.
So even if it was genuine, (in which case I'd apologise) it doesn't stop it being suspicious. It wouldn't be the first time a business has posted under false pretences to help themselves.
Especially if that garage is already 'known' on the internet, and has history of people on forums with only 1 or 2 posts saying how well good their experience was with said garage.
Wasn't aware FGP had such a reputation. All posts and comments about them that I've read have been positive apart from 1 which they worked to remedy with the customer. Judging by the rate they seem to flip 996s at I also don't think they need to resort to tactics like dodgy fake accounts to shift them.
This is the sort thing that the internet and particularly these Porsche forums are so good at. I have no connection with FGP, they may be boy scouts, they may be robbers, I don't know.
But this thread and the one linked above on 911UK both consist of unfounded allegations by people who think that every new poster must be fake. Then we get snide comments and words put in inverted commas to imply things. Now we have FGP having a 'reputation'.
It's the same with cars - someone asks is there a story behind a car. Nothing shows up.
Next thread, someone remembers there was a 'story'.
Next thread 'Oh that's the car with the story.'
Maybe the opposite of cynicism is gullibility, but I'd prefer to think it's open-mindedness.
This thread is not as bad as the 911UK one, which is simply some cynics bullying people.

Thanks everyone.
I'm a long time lurker and never felt the need to post, hence my lack of posting activity. On this occasion I just thought that I could help the original poster, if they were interested in buying the car.
Anyway, no harm done, no offence taken, the original poster can PM directly if they so wish.

Easy to check that your name and address is on the V5 anyway! I'm a long time lurker and never felt the need to post, hence my lack of posting activity. On this occasion I just thought that I could help the original poster, if they were interested in buying the car.

I thought the 911UK thread was very poor indeed. That's the problem with name and shame - ban it as on here and bad things never get airtime, allow it and it gets out of hand very easily. I really struggled to find any reported negative facts about FGP on that thread. And the fact that there are good reviews must all be fake, what?Carl-1w3zh said:

Thanks for taking the time to register and post. Not for me thanks, just some basic information like the legal trading entity seems a little odd. I am sure it is a lovely car and will be snapped up soon.. I'm a long time lurker and never felt the need to post, hence my lack of posting activity.
