SEAT Leon FR 184 ST guide

Hi,

I'm looking at options and considering the Leon FR 184 estate as I like the looks and appears very good value. I would probably be looking for one with around 35,000 on it. My annual mileage is between 20,000 to 30,000 per annum, and would likely run the car for at least the next three (or more!) years.

• I understand they are in principal the same platform as the Golf GTD. In reality how much is the same between them, particularly for future parts supply and maintenance?

• Which gearbox option is the better of the two, manual or DSG?

• How much cabin noise is there compared to equivalent models (e.g. Focus mk3)?

• Are there any particular differences to be aware of between the pre and post facelift? Is one notably better than the other?

• I have read that the LED lighting can fail, is this common place and are they expensive to repair or replace?

• I understand that timing belts are every five years, are there any other significant regular interval service items compared to the competition?

• Are the full leather seats any good? I would be looking for heated seats if possible too.
