Having now got all my finances in a better situation, I've been on a hunt for a nice Mk3 Golf GTi 16v.

As a few of you know my old Golf has been sent off to the Old Car Resting place that is Oli's garage (cheers dude!) and I have been forced to tool about in the embarresing Beetle (althoght has been nice weather for looking gay I must say)

I've found a car I think is the one though! Had a look this afternoon - a very tidy looking red one over the bridge toward Chepstow and on a bit.

The chappie is gonna do it for £1650 and a MOT so I'm well happy - just going along with the ever nice Silverback Mike to check it over but having driven it it seems straight with no problems!

Have a look and see what you think - I'm well chuffed - this is gonna be one loooong week while I wait for my loan to come through... :(

Looks very tidy indeed, so fingers crossed that it passes the "silverback test" .

BTW, cheers for the hospitality on Saturday, I hope you didn't have anything planned for the morning (or part of the afternoon) . It was car buying the way it should be - good old chin wag, and a nice blat. Hope you enjoyed the (brief) blast in the seven. Worked all day today so didn't get a chance to follow up on the damaged Mk2 you let me know about, but I should get a chance to find out more tomorrow - I'll keep you updated.

Cheers Oli,

Great to see you again, and most definitly had a smile on my face all day after the blat in your Caterham - quite simply insane!

I've uploaded some more photos for you all to have a gander at - I'm so excited!!!

I've also found out that I am definitly receiving an upgrade for the suspension forks on my MTB - so it's all smiles today!

Nice looking car there Neil. Our neighbours have just replaced an S plate GTI with an X5. I fear for their sanity.

Well, my drive is now looking like a cross between a used car forecourt and a scrappy! Four cars with MOTs and Tax and two without! It's a good think we've got a reasonably sizeable drive! The new untaxed, unMOTed car is yet another 1990 Golf Mk2 1.8 GL, ready to sacrifice itself for the cause. Hopefully it'll speed up the process of getting the other Golf back to its full working glory.

BTW - I like the new car Alec, very nice, I'll look forward to seeing it at the next meet.
