Hiya,

I have recently bought a cerb 4.2 with quite high mileage e.g 60K. The engine is quite noisy from cold for about the first 10 minutes after which it is quiet. The noise heard from cold is a top end knocking noise that sounds like the cams however it had new cams and lifters at 48K. Im really paranoid about it and drive like a granny for the first 15 minutes to make sure but just wondered if this is the norm? Once it has warmed up it is very nice. I also notice quite a marked increase in power above 5000rpm, just when im thinking about changing up it starts ripping the road up! Most unlike the RV8 im used to but a real pleasure!
Also found out today that decelerating from 3000+ rpm in gear makes some nice poping and banging noises out the back he he

Sounds normal. I think most of us take it easy till it warms up so your doing the right thing anyway.
If it becomes quiet when it's cold then it's time to get it checked.

The Rover V8 in the Chims and Grifforamas sounds like a erm.... V8.

The AJPV8 in the Cerbera sounds like a tractor!

I agree with the others - let her warm up gently before putting the boot in.

Yup, very gently, slowly does it! Think of it as application of clitoral pressure. Go nuts when she's begging for it, but absolutely not before
