Buetooth failed on BMW X5 E70 2013
Discussion
Hi, I am hoping that someone may be able to help. My bluetooth stopped working a few days ago and now just sits at "please wait" and nothing happens. I have investigated and tried a few things and I am now a little perplexed and hope that someone may be able to offer some advice.
I have located the combox (Part number 0257161) in the rear. I have checked and fibre is flashing red on the connector to combox which suggests that other connections further up the line are okay. I have unplugged the main harness connector to the combox and replugged and I can see red (fibre optic) lights from combox, so the combox is not dead. Just bluetooth that is not working. I have noticed that what I think is the USB connector from the combox showed some signs of arching on one of the pins, but I have tried disconnecting and reconnecting the combox, minus this USB lead and still I have no bluetooth.
So, I left the car for a few days without driving it. Then, when I turned on ignition the bluetooth worked. So I turned ignition off and remounted the combox. But when I next turned the ignition on, bluetooth had once again stopped working and was just displaying "please wait".
Next I disconnected the battery to reset everything. Left it disconnected for a day and then reconnected battery and turned ignition on and bluetooth was working again. Having been here before, I waited 5 minutes and then turned the ignition off. Waited another 5 minutes and turned ignition on. As happened before, this time when I turned the ignition on there was no bluetooth again. Just the messsage "please wait".
I wondered if anyone suggestions on what to try next?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Thanks,
Thanks for getting back to me with that suggestion. The combox also does the SOS emergency call and it picks up the aux input and USB in the central console that allow you to stream music and see art on the display, and there must be some connections for the stupid Nokia phone cradle. When the combox is disconnected the car throws an error with just the SOS function. Once it is reconnected the error goes away, but the bluetooth still doesn't work. The combox has as far as I can deduce the following connections. The main connector which has power and does things like speakers and microphone, a fibre optic connection, a bluetooth aerial connection, a USB connector (to USB in centre console) and another aerial connector for the GSM aerial and SOS aerial.
I have just remembered that the voice command function has also stopped working, so that must also have something to do with the combox. Apart from that everything else seems to work including the radio, DVD player,SAT/NAV, etc.
