Hello,

Recently I've been having issues with CIC iDrive and only the radio works on my E90 325d.

I was having starting issues and the yellow battery warning, two garages told me the battery was OK but not charging and the alternator was faulty which has been replaced with a new genuine BMW part.

The CIC iDrive is a retro fit using an emulator and has been in the car for 7 years without issue. Prior to that I only had the standard radio & Bluetooth for the phone.

After replacing the alternator CIC would intermittently run OK and I would have full function of Satnav, phone, parking sensors etc.

Now every time the screen doesn't come on and I have no activity from the controller or steering wheel controls for any function. The radio will work from the CIC unit, but will only stay on for 30 minutes, pressing the mute button will get audio back after a few seconds. Although when turning the car off and removing the key the radio will continue to play.

I have no other functions apart from the radio, no Bluetooth no parking sensors etc.

Using the Carly app I have the following error stored under Engine 003EED Power management quiescent current (layer PMRUHVERL)

I have now replaced the battery and registered it via the Carly app, everything worked OK for the day I replaced the battery, but getting into the car the next day it was back with the same fault.

Many thanks

That’s a weirdly worded fault code but it’s telling you u have a battery drain I think whilst the car is parked up.

If you put ur heater fan to top speed does it sound like it’s running at full speed or slower? If it’s running slower then that is a sign the car is switching off things to try and preserve the battery

What you’re describing with the radio switching off after 30 minutes but can switch it back on again and no other functions sounds like how the cic works when the ignition is switched off and you try to turn the radio on - so it’s either lost it’s switched live signal or maybe it’s just another part of the car preserving the battery

When I got back into the car this evening everythingnwas working again as normal. I tested the fan and I would say it was running at maximum. Possibly not a good time to try it, on past experience I expect it to all stop again, I’ll try the fan again.

It had failed in the car again this morning, I tried the fan and I would say it was running correctly on max.
