So, just started a new job and its 95% WFH. They have given me a Macbook Pro (bit pointless as most of the work is sql server but thats by the by).

I currently have my own set up lenovo thinkpad and dual monitors and am using one of the monitors for the laptop and one for the mac, however i'd like to be able to have both monitors on both of the devices.

Each of the devices only has one hdmi port, am I right in thinking that I could get a ultrawide with dual hdmi ports that would give me the ability to swap the source over easily and also give me the same screen real estate as the two 27" that I have now?

Another thing is that I now have two keyboards and mice and I would much prefer to only have the one (I can't get on with the Mac one as the special keys are all in the wrong place!) that I can use between the two devices does anyone have experience/ recommendations of multi device keyboard mouse combos?

I appreciate I could get a KVM but my experience of them they just create a mass of cables. i'd rather do it properly and have a nice working environment.

KVMs are more cables but only one button to switch.

My experience of switching multiple monitors, keyboard and mouse is pressing the buttons on each device gets annoying.

My Dell 3818DW has a built in KVM that I can use with my MacBook Pro (USB-C connection) and two other HDMI/DisplayPort inputs. I think that’s true of their 49” ultra wide. I use it alongside a 4K monitor which also switches between devices

For a single keyboard/mouse on two machines look at Logitech Flow, can even cut and paste between them. Downside is I think it's only on the MX stuff which is not what you'd call cheap.
