What do you think of this kit car?
Discussion
How about this for an idea (I've been daydreaming on a nice Sunday):
1. Factory Five Racing GTM (with strengtened chassis, you know, triangles and extra welds)
2. 650rwhp tuned N/A LS7 without Nitrous (is it possible? I don't know)
3. Sequential reinforced Porsche G50 tranny
4. Good suspension and brake system
What do you think? Comments much appreciated.

Hmmm - great faith in the design & construction then. Already assuming it will need extra triangulation and different suspension & brakes!
Found the specs eventually. Not surprised to see the weight isn't mentioned. Still, if you throw enough horsepower at it, I guess it isn't an issue.
Looks w i d e, that'll stop anyone passing you!
Not a real GTM though.

Weight is the first number listed on the specs page:
www.factoryfive.com/table/ffrkits/GTM/gtmspecs.html
It's listed at 2150lbs, or 977kg, just under the quoted weight for the Ultima GTR of 990kg. A US spec 911 Turbo comes in at 1630kg.
Width is quoted at 74 inches for the FFR GTM, as compared to 72.8 for the Ultima GTR and 72.1 for a 911 Turbo

I think it's jumping the gun to talk about needing to upgrade the chassis/suspension/brakes as the car hasn't been released yet and I think is still being fine tuned in development? I'm not an engineer but the chassis looks reasonably well laid out?
disclamer: This pic is from one of the earlier versions and I don't know if it has been updated since then.
hehe thanks for the comments.
I mentioned hypothetically upgrading the chassis, suspension and brakes due to the hypothetically extremely high output engine.
I've spoken to Mike Pisani at FFR (he's the engineer there), he can guarantee the chassis will take 500-550hp. Rather confident it can take more but he says needs time to really be sure.
The GTM is a really good deal at USD20k.
This is what I was thinking about a hypothetical engine

pretty sure it'll be a straight bolt on to the GTM

Keep in mind that that is a 'race' engine designed for drag racing, as opposed to a 'street' engine. I would guess that it will not idle very well below 2000-3000 rpms. I'm sure that they can build you something more suitable though, at a cost of some hp or $$. According to some of the magazine articles they have links to it sounds like a great company; really dedicated to the smallest detail in getting the ultimate in performance and reliablity out their engines.

true, but according to the GMHTP mag review of the engine build, it has reasonable drivability and some people may tolerate it for street use.
More Performance also has 427ci built for 'street' use, costing around $22500 and making about 550+hp.
i'm looking for something more extreme tho., and 725hp in a 2200lbs car sounds just right - for around $60-70k too!
