Request, does anyone know of a good repair shop for repair or replacing my rear screen, near Shaftesbury, Dorset. Don't mind travelling too much e.g. went to Peninsular for last service. Stitching had come away in top right corner and then not helped by muggins leaning on it (accidentally of course , :o).

Thanks in advance.

They repaired the rear screen stitching on my old Chim.

Removed the screen and restiched about £150 IIRC.

For that price, I'd definitely expect a new screen. Place in Cheshire did mine for just less than £200 including VAT.

Ah... well yes or not..Thats why I said IIRC..

plus a trip to Cheshire would (IIRC) cost me £120 in gas

so therefore not viable

Bloggs,
Seem to remember something on the S site....but could be in general gassing too!
There is a chap in the Swindon area that has had good reports for hood repairs - - might be worth doing a search.
If I knew how to place a link to a topic I would have done it....but I'm a bit of a numpty with computers.
Nick.

bloggs,

check with your insureance company first. you might be pleasantly surprised to know that the rear screen is covered by windscreen cover.

i had the stitching come away and then when it being valeted, they put hand through screen by accident.

anyway called my insurance company and they said it was covered under windscreen cover (50 quid excees, doesn't affect NCB)

West Country Trimmers - they do all Penninsula's work I believe. Quoted about a ton fifty for a new rear screen complete inc fitting.

Quoted £400 for a complete new bespoke (ie. fitted to the car not off the shelf) complete roof including fitting.

Up the road from you and come highly recommended by all concerned. Father & son outfit (Norman & Guy), seem to know there stuff and have done loads of TVR's.

Only trouble is they do ALL soft trimming, carpets, leather etc. You walk in wanting a new rear screen and come out with a complete carpet re-trim, new roof and the seat leather treated!.

Having my car back in about a week. Will let you know if I am delighted or not.
