Hi guys - been a while since I posted so here is an update to the fleet!

In August last year I decided to change my C6 RS6 . It had been an exceptional car with a 700hp remap and zero problems in the 2.5 years I owned it.
Anyway opportunity came up to trade it in for this!

Facelift Quattroporte 4.7S with ZF box. I have 2 small kids so needed to be something reasonable practical (ie 4 doors!). I love the looks and that 4.7 Ferrari engine is something to behold. What a sound!
Anyway - as you would expect - this is a seriously expensive car to maintain. Here are some examples during my ownership: rear wheel bearing - part alone costs £650! Fitting another 300!, front bushes and fittment - best part of £1000, servicing - £900 - you get the picture

Anyway, much as I loved the engine note and the practically, but the issue is the drive - It is very wallowly (except in sports mode) and jumps around the world. It got a bit better when I changed away from the Pirelli PZeros but was still not RS6!

Started to look at 997s but they seemed a bit pricey. I used to have a 964 C4 before prices went crazy. Thought about a Boxster but its not the same! Eventually, I decided I wanted a gen 1 997 C4S.

Eventually found this one and did a deal with the dealer on a part ex - picked it up yesterday and here it is!

Im really happy with the car. It is an ex RSJ sold car and has been very well maintained and cared for. Paint is so good I wonder if it has been repainted!

Aiming to enjoy it!

Greate choice, the 911's are a lot more hardy than the maser, although it will never sound as good, I'm sure you'll fall in love again with how it feels smile

Very nice ! Your obviously one of the few people who know what they like and go out and get it !

I have a 997.1 C4S for no other reason than I couldn’t get one when my son was was born as I couldn’t get push chairs in there or all the other paraphernalia associated with with new borns and toddlers, so I went RS4 Avant and bigger until I could eventually get the one I wanted some 10 years later as a 3rd car.

There’s some lovely gen .1 997’s around if you are willing to seek out the best ones.
Enjoy it, it’s a cracker !

Had a couple of little niggles but fortunately easy to fix I think

The button which puts the spoiler up at the rear is not working nor is the PASM button next to it.
Checked it all out and I think its a burnt track on the circuit board - ordered a new one off ebay and hopefully it will do the trick
Good news is the spoiler is working automatically when it reaches 75 mph.

Another niggle is the lack of radio from the double din android replacement unit. My solution for now was to use the DAB service instead but the reception is not great with DAB. Will have to get the unit out to see if the aeriel is plugged in.

Spent all of yesterday cleaning it. I love the first clean of a new car. The paint is spectacular for a 15 year old car - must have had paint at some point but very hard to see where. Maybe a glass out job.

Spent some time polishing the rear end!!!
