Some Urgent Advice required

I own a small Groundworks Business servicing the Construction Sector and operate 4 vehicles all registered to this business . In late January a NIP dropped through the letterbox for one of these vehicles , unfortunately I confused the registrations and nominated myself as being the Driver . I have been given an option to attend a course which will be done online . In the meantime since this happened I have been served with another NIP for another vehicle which I was indeed driving . It was only when I sat these two NIPs side by side this morning that I noticed the differing registrations and realised my mistake . I have held my hands up to something I didn't do .
I have now a couple of options , admit my mistake as genuinely have nothing to hide , my driver accepts his guilt as he is the only driver of that named vehicle , he also has no previous Points nor recent Speeding Courses so presumably he will be given the option of a course also .
I am worried that this genuine mistake will be seen by the Police as a ploy to escape 3 points on my License , as after doing the Awareness Course I would still be left with these 3 Points . I am also aware that strictly speaking I have taken the blame for something I havent done and with result the guilty party has escaped Prosecution . This is the quandary I have found myself in and would welcome any thoughts .

Yes no problem with the Employee , he fully accepts it was his allocated vehicle with him driving . Like me he has a clean license with no courses in the last three years . I just wonder how this is going to be viewed by the Police .

Might not be right don't tell them just both of you do a course that a solved.

Who knows, but for me adding another mistruth, this time deliberately doesn't sound like it's a terribly good idea.

This. There’s nothing wrong with saying you thought it was you till the second one made you realise the mistake. Must go on loads in fleets that all look similar.

This is the correct option. Choosing anything other than this will open you up to a massive and very serious can of worms which could end far worse than a speed awareness course.

I called up the relevant Department yesterday , explained my situation and have been asked to drop them an Email outlining my situation . Apparently mistakes such as mine happen frequently with Businesses and the Lady assures me they will resend my Paperwork . Thanks for the kind advice the Members have offered , its much appreciated .
