I have my heart set on a 34" ultrawide with the following specs:

  • IPS or TN panel
  • Above 120Hz refresh (144Hz preferred)
  • Comes with decent stand (tilt + height adjustment important)
  • Curved (although I can consider non-curved)
This is initially for work (to replace x2 27" 1080p monitors) but once WFH ends I will be replacing my ASUS ROG 27" PG279.

I can't seem to find anything close to my requirements in stock. There is an ASUS one that is priced at over £2k so that is out of the question.

Perhaps I am not searching hard enough, but would appreciate some advice.

Sod 34", you want the current reining champion of ultrawides - the Odyssey G9 https://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-Odyssey-Curved-Ga...

49", 240Hz. I use mine mainly for productivity / work, but when I game, its so fluid it makes me almost feel a bit queasy!

Wow, tempting but it's just too big for me smile I
t's a beast though, never thought anyone would need a 49" computer monitor. My living room OLED is not much larger at 55" lol.

They look very tempting, but I bought the previous version of it (LC49HG90DMUXEN) and it had numerous dead pixels, including a line of them in the top right quadrant of the screen - I had thought that dead pixels stopped being an issue ages ago. Not impressed and I sent it back

I bought one of these about a month back - still haven't deployed it as there are real space constraints on my desk and a monitor arm was going to be £250+. However, there's a stud wall directly behind the desk and it looks like a suitable wall mount that can handle it is a lot cheaper and I now have a cheap Amazon wallmount coming that others have used successfully.

Hopefully will have it in use by the weekend - then need to try to get a decent GFX card that can properly use it. My 1060 is NOT going to cut it for super-ultrawide 1440p gaming ...... Damn cryptominers!

Thanks for this. I am looking for IPS or TN (basically not a VA panel with at least 100Hz refresh but can't seem to find any.

Perhaps I am looking for a unicorn?

Reason why I am not considering VA panels is because I've read about ghosting issues when used for gaming.

That is almost perfect! I say almost because just noticed the resolution is 1080p.

This one fits the bill, but at almost £2k for a monitor it's just too expensive for me.

I have this one:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08NF7V9HR/ref=cm_sw_r...

Couldn't be happier. Ticks every box, IPS, 144Hz, G-sync ultimate, latest LG panel, build quality etc. I spent a long time researching. You might be able to get it a bit cheaper buying direct with Dell if you can find a discount code or employee discount. Only thing is you'll need a beefy GPU to drive the 3840 X 1600 resolution.

Cheers for this. Initially I will be using it for work, so it will be driven by the Lenovo laptop, with built in gpu. Not going to be gaming so I think this should be adequate smile

When WFH ends I plan to upgrade my current gaming rig monitor (ASUS ROG Swift PG279) which is driven by RTX3090.

Also a good tip, cheers smile Why would anyone sell at such a loss though... Looking at the specs it's still a decent monitor, and not sold anywhere else now so you've got yourself a bargain!
