Experiments you won't be repeating
Discussion
One of the lads I grew up with had borrowed his dad's Triumph 2000. Out in the sticks a U/J failed on a half-shaft.
Knowing more about cars than my mates, my solution was to pass the blade of the huge screwdriver we found in the boot through the yoke of the U/J to jam the half-shaft, carefully engage the clutch and drive home with one driven wheel.
His dad had the car recovered and spent most of the weekend cutting off the Catherine Wheel of former screwdriver wrapped tightly around the half-shaft.
I won't suggest that again.

Not me, but a friend at uni. If you're old enough you might remember "space dust", a sweet confection that fizzes and pops on the tongue. One evening, a tad the worse for wear, he wondered what it would be like to "snort" it.
Not good, apparently.
I know a couple of people that regretted that decision! Not good, apparently.

Bought a Sunbeam Rapier Fastback for spares around 1985. In the summer I decided to make it into a convertible so out came the disc cutter. Me and matey jumped into it "Dukes of Hazard style" and drove it around the block and it was very
However, when we opened both doors to get out it snapped in half
Oh well it was a parts car

4.5MINS, on the spuds last and off first and then straight in the shower. Never had an issue
For me, it was not just the intense burning sensation in a very sensitive area, but also, and I can't emphasise this enough, the agonising itching that occurs when said pubic hair begins to grow back and break through the surface of the skin

You are a tougher man than I.

As a youth I once clamped my lips round the top of a tube of a Sherbert Fountain and inhaled deeply. After nearly succumbing to sweet, foamy, intensely sugary suffocation it's not something I would repeat readily.
I did this. The sherbet went into my throat in a solid lump and stuck. Thankfully a neighbour was nearby and saw it all and administered the heimlich manoeuvre ... would have been an interesting death certificate for a 11yr old.
As a kid I had a 'Chemistry 4' set that I think was something like this:

Working at the kitchen table, I cooked up something in a test tube one day. The instructions advised I could get a whiff of it 'very cautiously, by holding the test tube two feet underneath the nose, moving it gently from side to side, and breathing in very, very slowly.' I disregarded the instructions, instead, putting the test tube directly under my right nostril, and breathed in as hard as possible.
The fact that I survived is one of the great mysteries of the 1970s.

Now that brings back the memories, I had one of these, completely forgot about it. Thankfully, I did not treat the contents like cocaine Working at the kitchen table, I cooked up something in a test tube one day.
