997.1 GT3 are prices on the up
Discussion
I don't see an increase in prices.
These are 'asking prices', not 'selling prices'.
Most would-be sellers are probably waiting until Spring/Summer post lockdown, so supply is limited which will keep prices artificially high.
Good cars will sell at the right price and others cars have sold for less than these.
Let's see what happens when more sellers and buyers come to market in the summer.

100% they are on the up.
A clean Clubsport 997.1/.2 will be a winner.
I researched before buying mine at the beginning of the year ....
C16 997.1 GT3 numbers are 248 supplied
C16 997.2 GT3 numbers are 141 supplied
It is said by most specialist I spoke to that roughly a third are clubsports so if you said 83 .1’s and 48 .2’s which makes the Clubsport variants rarer than the RS equivalents.
That is before you factor in the lemons, the crashed, the ruined and the poorly maintained cars.... you tell me how many reasonable - good - perfect examples are left. Not many.
The 996 is now coming full circle and prices are on the up, the appreciation for the older stuff has always had a cult following but many I’ve spoken to about 997’s say that people see them as the happy medium between the dated 996 and the modern GT cars that are selling over list and then will drop off a bridge due to falling demand. The older Mezger cars with hydraulic steering will always be deemed the heroes and the ones to have by the internet, the internet that everyone reads.

It’s getting harder to find good/clean cars, so the sellers can price them however much they want if they’re not in a rush to sell.

I have kept an eye on the market for the last 6 months and they are on the up, but it seems to be across the board not just 997 GT3’s, take a look at Cayman R’s or 1M’s.
Certainly less for sale at the moment too
I really like yours; I think you picked up a bargain there on CC. Certainly less for sale at the moment too

as much as i wish they were i dont think they are
i dont see me getting back what i paid for mine 2 years ago and i dont think i overpaid then
comforts still hang around too long and CC seems to have created a new price point between the retail/trade spread and this is making it trickier to gauge fair value

if you go back far enough yes but i dont see they have moved much in the past 2 years esp when you see stuff like this
https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2007-porsche-9... - 61k with ceramics
https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2007-porsche-9... - 40k CS

Just having a look on PH and their are 3 997.1 GT3,s all up for £79K plus.
I know they seem to be selling for less on Collecting cars.but could the prices be on the up?
I’m not sure how long you have followed the 997 gt3 car market but the majority of the cars advertised currently on PH have been on and off the market for years in some cases. I know they seem to be selling for less on Collecting cars.but could the prices be on the up?
CC is a very good reference point, as will the Silverstone auction car.
This is a model I’m very interested and do my best to keep an eye on what new pops up. Over the last year in my opinion there have only been two stand out cars.
Low miles Red CS at top555 which I put a offer on but it wasn’t enough then removed from sale. I believe that car was then sold privately, but I may be wrong.
Low miles White bucket seat car at Ashgood, I was to slow and by the time I made a offer and it had sold.
Both cars has solid opc service history which is more than I can say for some of the others I have enquired about.
What I have noticed is there is a massive gap in the asking prices between a non CS 997.1 to a CS 997.2 CS and this seems to be widening.

Can I ask why do you see the OPC history to be so important?CC is a very good reference point, as will the Silverstone auction car.

For selfish reasons I’m hoping the new 992 GT3 will push prices down of the older models.
Likely to have the opposite affect it will drag prices of previous models up especially as the 992 will be hard to secure an allocation for and it is alot more expensive with further price rises imminent. First flipped cars anticipated to be £230k plus. The non clubsport cars do seem to be an issue with a lot of people its never been a problem for me. I have mainly done European trips in mine.
Mine is a 2 owner car PCCB,s which are not to everyone taste , full Porsche service history and Porsche warranty all of it life, still covered now.
When i brought mine i brought on condition and history.
I guess i will be giving it away lol.

If, as I did a few years back when there were more cars, in general, for sale, that discrepancy stands out. Very few Gen 2 CS about.C16 997.1 GT3 numbers are 248 supplied
C16 997.2 GT3 numbers are 141 supplied
I still think that the 997.1 is the sweet spot in the whole Porsche range. Aircooled cars continue to sell for good money, 996 GT3s have increased in price and there are more of those for sale than 997s. I have owned a 996 and a 997 GT3 and the 997 is a better, more usable car and looks better IMO. All the cars prior to the 997.1 are increasing, 997.2 are increasing where as over the past few years 997.1 values are actually softer.
I’ve been doing some research on these and I think the 997.1 GT3 “comfort” is probably the best value variant - for me at least anyway.
I understand the CS is more sought after but the negatives for me
More expensive
Probably won’t fit in the bucket seats - I’m 6ft and about 14st.
The fire extinguisher also limits space for passengers and doesn’t really add any value to me.
The cage looks cool but limits the space in the back for long trips away and I’ve heard it can creak and ping which would annoy me.
The 997.2 GT3 is again more expensive, the centre locking wheel nuts look cool but are a PITA - so I’ve read. I also prefer the look of the .1 anyway. Granted the engine is a peach.
So, for me I’ll be on the look out for a 997.1 comfort and then add some recaros for track days and use it as intended.
