Clutch slave line sizes
Discussion
Hi guys.
Can anyone confirm the tube size and unions fitted on the clutch slave line please.
It’s a unf thread I think?
I’ve been trying to bleed my clutch and just can’t get a seal at the 4 way union end.
I was re using the original one but it’s got a slight kink in it that’s not acceptable so I’ve given up and want to get a new one made up.
Thanks

I found this from a thread I posted in a few years back if that helps: ( https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=15... )

Got the hose made up, wallet now £55 lighter
Made it long enough to go down the back of the engine first and then back around avoiding most of the heat.
Fittings were 7/16 UNF at the slave end and M12 X 1.0 at the bulkhead manifold block.

I've been wanting to do this mod for a while, but this thread got me thinking about it again.
So I contacted Proline braided lines to ask the spec of what they have supplied before, and spoke to Josh who was more than helpful. Thanks Classic Chim for providing that information.
Also just to confirm as it has been mentioned either way around in the posts above. It is 7/16 at the baulk head and M12 at the slave cylinder end.
I decided to change the spec a bit and went for the following:

Couple of shot after install:

I used banjo fittings to get the 90 degree you have pre-formed and yes your thread specs are correct , yours is far tidier with less joins
I was just being tight as I had AN6 hose already

After a bit of huffing and puffing I kept my Proline one and Josh sent me the male to male adaptor for the 7/16 bulkhead.
It looks ok and I’m pleased with it as they are cheap really.
I should have gone for your spec with the 90d bend on both ends but specified it 800 mm long so it curves back nicely so good to go.
I’ve been on other work so still to bleed it but can’t see any issues.
I’ll take a photo when done.
I’m still using the stock retention clip covered in rubber that bolts to bulk housing which works well.
Josh is very helpfull and I’d recommend Proline as a prompt and reliable company. The hose is quality.

So anyone ordering from proline (highly recommend at £25) then early cars need 7/16 at bulkhead, later cars with Union black on bulkhead need M10

My Mk 2/3 2000 year car has 7/16 at the block connector too.
Are any of them metric at that end.
Yes some of them are M10 at the block, in fact that’s what I thought you said previously, Josh sent you the 7/16 Union so you could use the pipe he’d made up fir you?Are any of them metric at that end.

Thanks for all the positive feedback. Always nice to give a bit back after all the years of using the collective knowledge of this forum.
I forgot to mention but I went with a 700mm hose length.

Interesting to hear about the 'stock retention clip covered in rubber that bolts to bulk housing', I don't have anything like that. But my car had been messed around with before I got it. So must have been left off / lost.Josh is very helpfull and I’d recommend Proline as a prompt and reliable company. The hose is quality.
