E39 M5. What next?

Purely hypothetical, but a recent jump in values has me thinking about moving the M5 on. I probably won't, but the thought experiment is fun

Something fun, engaging, manual, up to £10k. Doesnt need to be a track car (I have the RX8 for that) or an amazing family car (Land Cruiser does that) but a 4 seater would be good to take the kids out from time to time and be a fun commuter when I'm eventually let back in the office.

Not fussed on age, fuel economy, brand etc. I have a dislike for VAG 4-pots (dull) but happy to consider anything else.

Given a choice of monaro or M5, M5 wins. OH has a 2015 WRX STI which I drive fairly regularly, otherwise the Forester would be right up my street

You have a family and a track car already...so something like I've suggested could be a happy medium perhaps.

Needs to be something special to justify moving the M5 on.. And while I like the ST & Cooper S, they're not special enough for me.

Well its primary purpose is as a road car, so it's not exactly a daily drift machine. I do enjoy that it's RWD though.

Good call; nowhere near the power of the M5; but for driving, they're very hard to beat IMO

Never owned a DC2, but have driven plenty, from OEM stock to modded and they are belters; very raw though.

I loved my DC5, from stock to charged, it never failed to put a smile on my face (emptied my wallet a lot too)

However for a budget of c£15k, personally I'd be looking at a Civid FD2 as well; fantastic car and one I'd still love to own
