Recording phone call yea or nay?

This is off a thread on sp&l where a doctors report appears to differ from the patients recollection of the phone conversation.

Has anybody ever felt the need to record a conversation? I know you can’t do it as standard on an iPhone but you can an android.

I’ve read several cases where company recordings have been useful but would you be paranoid if you recorded anything and everything yourself (except personal stuff)

As far as I’m aware I’ve never been in the position to need a recording but you only need to be in that position once for it to pay off.

Just musing by the way. Even if I could I probably cba.

From Android 9 onwards, you can only record your side of the phone conversation. I do have a phone running Android 8 and anything I want to record is done via that phone.

You can record it, but you could never ‘use it’ unless you’ve got recorded consent from the other person to record it in the first place. Or it’s part of a contract etc that you can do it.

Not entirely. You can release recordings that were made without consent if it is in the public interest, and they are also admissible in court. But for sure posting them on Facebook is a no-no.

As someone has said it used to work on Android but not now. I had mine set up to record all calls. I used my phone for work and it meant when I took calls I didn't have to note anything, or remember reference numbers etc.

It was a very useful feature which would should have been kept.
