Is it possible to deactivate my drive away auto lock?

Cheers.

Yes; but it needs to be coded; so INPA or Carly for BMW will do it for you

God - I wouldn’t know how to code if my life depended on it.

Can a dealer do it for me?

Cheers.

In theory-yes-in practice you may find all the Techs too young to know how to work on an E46!

Where abouts are you? Plenty of PHers dotted about the place with the wherewithall to do it.

Indeed, 10 minutes with the app or a laptop should see you right.

This would be mega. I’m in Bath...

Can pay in posh coffee (tastes the same as everything else!)

Carly for BMW is easy; but you need to find someone who has the license etc...

I can use it and my favourite tool is a 12lb sledgehammer laugh

But as said; find someone who's local via on here or the likes of the relevant E46 Facebook groups and they'll have it coded in 5mins or less...

Why do you want to remove it though?

It just annoys me. I potter about in it and have to hit the unlock button 20 times a day. Doesn’t even unlock when I turn the engine off and take the key out of the ignition.

I’m being a baby basically!

laugh

It's one of the first things I coded when I've got my BMWs; have it lock up at 2MPH and then the door handles unlock the door from the inside etc...

If you pull the door handle twice it will unlock – no need to use the central locking

My wife wish she had it in her Vauxhall last week when she was driving to work and she was assaulted by a thug who opened her door to have a go at her. All my BM's have had it and its never been an issue for me, as already pointed out just pulling the inside door handle twice should open it.

Wasn't the feature originally designed to prevent car jackings on flash cars years ago?

God. Sounds scary. Hope she’s ok. But I’m in Bath and don’t feel sufficiently threatened by car jackings to warrant this petty annoyance. And my kids getting in and out all the time... just annoying... to each his own etc!

I can relate to that, I bought an E86 that had the auto-locking on and it was such a PITA!

When I had it serviced I got my Indy to turn it off.

Then I bought an E91 3 Series that had it, but thankfully on those you can change it yourself using the OBC.

I find that bizarre, each to their own etc but you turn the engine off and the car unlocks.... or pull the leaver twice and it unlocks. I cant seem to see where the PITA is, but there you go, more than one person seems to dislike it. If it doesn't unlock when you turn the engine off then something isn't right with it surely? Any way hope you get it sorted mate

I turned it off on mine because pulling the lever twice is just jarring to me, every time I just pull it once and try to shoulder it open...

I'm not worried about getting jacked out of an E46 that's rough as a badger's arse so why faff about?

I was about to say the same...as I didn't see the need to code anything out.

Only ever use the central locking button on mine when I'd forgotten to double-blip the open button on the remote and the passengers couldn't get in.
