Explorer/trawler yachts
Discussion
Hello,
I would be very grateful for any feedback, or opinions on small (60-70ft) explorer/trawler type yachts.
Want something will amazing seakeeping abilities, long range cruising ability, and comfort. Happy to see parts of the world @ 8 knots !!!
Been looking at s/hand Nordhavn's - second hand values seem very strong as the manufacturers dealer network seem to have the market sown up.
Any experience welcomed, or suggestions for alternatives gratefully received.
Thank you in advance.

As an alternative, Branson Boat Design is a UK designer and seller of steel kit boats, with three trawler/passagemaker types in the range:

(never even seen one in the flesh, never mind set foot aboard. I just happened to save a bookmark when I was dreaming about dutch barges one day)

Not sure if this is the sort of info you're looking for, but this couple have a few videos of their liveabord trawler type yacht.I would be very grateful for any feedback, or opinions on small (60-70ft) explorer/trawler type yachts.

There's a few tours of trawler yachts and others on this Youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCitH5iJ0s-YwbuAg3... But I expect you've watched all these already.
Good luck in your search, not jealous at all.

Do people actually buy these??? Imagine telling your friends you had a boat and inviting the down “I’ll pick you up from the fish market dock” Nordhavn’s look far nicer despite being a trawler based design. https://www.dutch-barges.net/coaster.html

Agree - though the idea of custom building an aluminium hulled trawler yacht may not be so silly.A friend of mine brought a Azimut Magellano 53 in China/HK as part of a syndicate.
I was interested in the experience as I rather fancied one myself.
They had a lot of minor teething issues with the fitout initially but all were rectified by the dealer. He also specced it incorrectly (his own admission) by putting in a downstairs lounge instead of an extra cabin (i'm going to say it was a two cabin layout instead of three but may be wrong here, can't recall specifics).
Anyhow, they never took it any rough waters so can't comment on seaworthiness but overall they really enjoyed it. They had the pod drive system with joystick so could move it around, dock, refuel with only two onboard, a big positive (although they also had a part time skipper for other less capable syndicate members).
I still think these Magellano's look fantastic but personally I prefer the S6 from the Azimut range.
As a side note, I own a couple of companies, and with all the cash washing around these days I've had a couple of large offers on one, I'm seriously considering taking the offer, getting a new(ish) vessel around 40-60ft and doing the East Coast of Italy for a year.

I'd go with Vripak. Cloggies know how to weld boats.

Or an Altena if you want something a touch more reasonable in the wallet department.

If your spending trousers have good pockets De Alm are also rather good.

Bering 65 for a slightly leftfield option.

Does anyone know a nice broker who will give honest opinions ?
Adrian from Nicolle Associates (the link posted above or below) I haven’t purchased from him but know him from sailing and would recommend. Audis5b9 said:

Interested to know why ? I spoke to an Italian couple once in Preveza who describe the east coast as 's
t' and not worth worrying about !!And that's because I used to have a factory in Nice, France and I'm familiar with the Northern end of the Med. Plus the Azimut collection point is West Coast Italy.
Anyhow, not for a few years so as you were
